We *did* complete Pokemon Pearl, but...
Jan. 29th, 2009 07:14 amI read that Toys 'R' Us is hosting two events in the coming months. Shaymin is being given away from 2/8 through 2/14, and Regigigas will be given away from 3/8 thru 3/21. The first event is for Shaymin itself, not for Oak's Letter, and it will be downloadable to Diamond and Pearl, unlike the recent events involving the Member Card and the Secret Key (which were both hosted online). Most likely, Regigigas will also be downloadable to Diamond and Pearl, since Platinum only comes out right after that event ends.
I told Mom about these events, and she told me that I have an appointment with Dr. Perret on 2/11, so if the Toys 'R' Us store at Lake Grove is hosting it, we can go on that day. I called that store, and the manager said she doesn't know yet whether it will be hosted there, but another event for a downloadable version of Diamond or Pearl is being hosted. Of course, since I already own a physical copy of Pearl, that event doesn't matter.
So, trading these onto Platinum will be the reward for completing Pearl. (I am not gonna trade Deoxys onto Platinum.) As for who will help me... well, Adam's DS was shattered months ago, so I did consider buying him a new one with Pokemon Platinum for his birthday on May. However, he was never even reliable enough to bring his DS and game when it was intact, so that option is most likely out. Taylor seems like the better choice, but thus far, I've already made several calls to him, neither of which he answered. So, maybe when both of us meet with Vincent, that would be a better time to make appointments with him.

Moving on, here's an interesting coincidence: I only started discussing Japanese customs two days ago (particularly about modesty and rejecting compliments). Just yesterday morning on Malcolm in the Middle, Lois was talking to some military official about thinking up punishemnts for her kids and his troops, and he said "Lois, you are a genius." Her response was "Naw, I'm just a talented amateur." (And, that's an American show.)
As of yesterday, I have started playing Pokemon Emerald. Will I be able to finish it in time for the release of Platinum? Seems most likely, since it only took about a month to complete most other Pokemon games.
