Jun. 23rd, 2024 06:06 amYesterday at work, this charity event was held for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Things were just getting set up when I arrived, and while clearing some carts out from the parking section it was held in, someone asked me to lift some caution tape for a Red Bull car to enter; I had to hop to get it over the can prop.
Some vehicles were showcased, including two old-fashioned cars, a SWAT truck, and some kind of motorcycle. some hula hoops, bean bags, and a stack of large Jenga blocks were also arranged.
At some point, I bought a mocha from in the store, mainly to withdraw some money since there is no ATM that I ever noticed. Withdrew $100, the highest option the card reader offers (all given in twenties).
Come my lunch break, I broke a twenty for a ten back, mainly for two hot dogs; each hot dog was set to come with a bag of chips or Cheetos and a drink for $5. Got a bottle of Blue Ocean and Paradise Punch lemonade each, drank the former after eating both my dogs, and brought the latter to the break room to refridgerate, and those chips to my locker thereafter.
Came back, and bought twelve of these little rubber duckies that I've seen on several people's dashboards, $2 apiece ($24 in total).
Then bought a default total of 12 raffle tickets for goodies for a discount price of $10 (normally $1 per ticket), before getting back to work.
Come the end of my shift, I came back to try my luck at this game where you're supposed to drop coins into this fish tank, in an attempt to land them in one of two shotglasses. At the moment, I had one penny to spare that I had found lying around earlier on, but then Mom texted me to buy her a pound of potato salad before meeting her in the car. Priced at $2.92, I broke a five for that, landing me three more pennies and a nickel along with two singles for future bus fare. Brought those to the game, but never hit either mark.
Well, glad to have had a shift yesterday, especially with Guru currently a no-go.
(With a whole three days off starting today, I brought both my remaining drinks home, along with a can of Arizona iced tea and a pack of mozzarella wraps, lest anyone steal any of that like had happened with a donut recently.)
