Cibus Esculentus Madoka Magica: Lowdown of everyone else

While the events of Oriko, Kazumi, and Suzune Magica most likely couldn't take place in this universe due to different rules of the universe (namely, that Cibi don't become Witches, unlike Puellae Magi), I will confirm here that everyone who had or will ever become a Puella Magi somewhere in the franchise does become a Cibus in this version of the Madokaverse. Even Yuma, whom Oriko saved in Extra Story, and Elise from The Hollow Little Mermaid, whom the wiki states (despite in-game dialogue, which never even specifies her friends' wishes) only that she wanted to help her parents cope with her sister's death and specializes in summoning magic.

If anyone would like to spin anything off from this story to write about other canon characters or their own OCs, I'll be glad to read and critique them, and even more so to discuss things with you before you actually get started.

-My previously planned closing note for the fic.

To start with, it is understandable that Stars Above author BHS would overlook most differences that the replacement of Witches with Demons would result in, given how little that (or even how Demons/Wraithes actually function) had been explored even in the anime.

That said, while I don't plan on throwing anything out the window that I've already added into chapter 4 of the fic and asked the author to write in her own words, I have reconsidered whether to write turn the epilogue into a full-fledged fifth chapter to cover everyone else in the franchise thus far. While I was successfully able to tie Oriko into things and increase the involvement of Kazumi Magica's main three, I'm not so sure if showcasing circumstantial differences between the fic and canon would be a sufficient purpose for scenes involving characters that the actual story's primary events would not affect in any way. Furthermore, while I do prefer to have everyone kept as similar to canon as actual events would allow for, I would prefer to leave most things open otherwise regarding what actually does take place apart from the main story's events (such as whether canonically deceased characters like Komaki, Yuuri, or Tsubaki are still alive or not).

So, here is a rundown of what needs to be covered:

Puella Magi Oriko Magica:

Oriko Mikuni: Without the threat of Kriemhild Gretchen, Oriko has no reason to kill Madoka (who isn't even involved in Extra Story or Sadness Prayer). I've even written for her to pursue her and Homura to save them after having a vision of their upcoming encounter, specifically to demonstrate that. It's also possible that, while Oriko herself was too vague with her wish, Kyubey might have given her her power of foresight so that she eventually winds up as Esuriens food, which could be exactly what her vision of Madoka and Homura was really meant to accomplish.

Kirika Kure: Seems feasible so far. While it isn't licensed here yet, I do understand that Sadness Prayer is supposed to explore how she and Oriko became friends in the first place.

Yuma Chitose: Her role as a red herring for Kyubey (away from Madoka) in the original story is obviously moot. In Extra Story, Oriko saves her from making a contract with Kyubey, but only after meeting her at a park first, followed by a vision where she dies from an heart attack courtesy of her abusive mother Mako. It is still possible for Kyubey to find her on his own while she's still alive, but while she might don the same outfit that she wore originally, her powers are likely to be different if Mako is still alive and Kyoko never got involved with her, since she will most likely wish for Mako to be nice to her.

Sasa Yuuki: All we know about her is her jealousy of everyone who is better than her in some way or another, which is exactly why she has the power to brainwash such people into doing her bidding. Sadness Prayer is supposed to involve her, so we might learn more about her when that comes out here.

Komaki Asako: Appears only briefly in Extra Story. Is stated to be killed in Sadness Prayer by Kirika, who doesn't yet know of her friendship with Oriko, but that was during a fight over a Grief Seed. Naturally, that fight wouldn't have taken place in this story, due to the lack of Grief Seeds or even Soul Gems in existence. (Let's remember that Cibi are meant to be devoured, not necessarily driven to despair, since they don't become Witches unlike Puellae Magi.)

Puella Magi Kazumi Magica:

The Pleiades Saints: Would have most definitely banded together the same way as in canon, making their wishes all together at Michiru's suggestion. The experiments, however, are specifically the result of Michiru becoming a Witch, and therefore cannot happen. There might be different experiments, though, if they were to find out their real purpose as Cibi, i.e. as food for Esurientes, to enable them to spawn and give off energy that Incubators harvest. The person I commissioned claimed to have some vague ideas for what kinds of experiments could take place, but couldn't really put anything together.

(Speaking of food, the whole theme of food throughout Kazumi Magica would surely fit in any equivalent spinoff from my own story.)

Kazumi Subaru: The only Puella Magi thus far who absolutely cannot exist in this story, being a clone of Michiru explicitly containing Witch anatomy. As a Cibus, though, Michiru might assume the same outfit that Kazumi wears for most of the manga, but the new attire she gains in the end is pretty much ruled out.

Kanna Hijiri: Absolutely would exist, being a product of Niko's wish involving an incident from much earlier on. Her own wish (to be able to "connect" to others without their knowledge) was specifically the result of realizing her own artificial nature, realizing where it all stems from, perceiving her whole life as a massive lie, and seeking revenge on Niko and her fellow Pleiades. That, however, could only happen if she were to ever spot Niko somewhere in the first place, and even then, not only would Niko be less recognizable due to weight differences, but Kanna would have to make different plans should she still identify her as a clone of herself. No Soul Gems or Grief Seeds means that the anti-Witch-system experiments cannot take place, which in turn rules out the creation of Evil Nuts.

Yuuri Asuka and Airi Anri: Only one of them can be a Cibus, depending on whether or not the original Yuuri is dead (in which case, Airi would wish to assume her identity from then on). While the original Yuuri's wish would also remain the same, the actual circumstances are open. If Airi even knows about the Pleiades Saints at all, she most likely will not seek revenge on them, since she only did so canonically for having killed a Witch-ified Yuuri. Things could be as different from canon as Airi herself making her wish and then taking out whatever consumed Yuuri herself, it might not even happen in the same place, and whether the Pleiades even got involved at all is also open.

Ayase/Luca Souju: Unless anything ever gets spun off from Kazumi Magica, all we will ever know is that she/they collect Soul Gems. Not only do those not exist in this story, but we don't even know what their actual wishes were, or why they collect Soul Gems, let alone would we know how different they'd be in a world without Witches or Soul Gems, or if they'd even make contracts with Kyubey in the first place.

Puella Magi Suzune Magica:

Volume 1 is still a whole month away from coming out here, but the whole plot of that story is moot anyway. Suzune only killed other Magical Girls because she thought she was doing the right thing by preventing them from otherwise becoming Witches. However, in truth, she was brainwashed into it by Kagari, who wanted to avenge Tsubaki, whom Suzune killed because she became a Witch. While Tsubaki would still have put Suzune's well-being over her own (and whether she's still alive or not in this story), Kagari would not have become evil, Suzune's canonical victims would still likely be alive (provided they weren't eaten or didn't die some other way), Matsuri would still remember Suzune (if they had still met to begin with), and no one has any reason left to go after Suzune or Kagari. Since Kagari's actual wish remains unknown, though, she probably would still have the power of illusion and mind-manipulation.

Puella Magi Tart Magica:

Based on historical events, complete with actual research explained throughout the story, this is one story where the gist of things should remain the same. The details should differ, though, since there are plenty that obviously never took place in real life. While Jeanne's fate is a foregone conclusion as it is, there is no telling what else volume 2 has in store for us, and how things would be different in this story's history, being three more months away from getting released here.

The Hollow Little Mermaid:

This actual scenario of the mobile game is just an alternate version of Sayaka's storyline in the anime, with Elise and her group assuming the former role of Kyoko while Kyoko herself disputes bitterly alongside the other mains with them. While Elise mentions having wished to trade fates with her twin sister (after she became a Witch) and uses that power to assume Sayaka's fate of becoming a Witch, the wiki states only that she wanted to help her parents cope with her demise.

Other characters:

Nagisa Momoe: All we know about her from before The Rebellion Story, is that she wished for a cheesecake to share with her terminally ill mother, and came to regret not wishing to cure her instead or being able to share it with her.

Pia Undo: As not only one of the most obscure characters in the franchise but hailing from another dimension, she could have easily had the very last scene to herself if that were to go through. Here's the wiki page:

To clear up any confusion, the friends she made are the main five from Madoka Magica, and the "false world" was a Witch's Barrier. Here is the the wiki's page for the Divine Gate collaboration event, which lists everyone's part of the story involved:
