Yesterday at around 10, I asked Marie if she would like to eat lunch out somewhere for my second-to-last day off this week (the last one being Thursday). She said she would be free at 2, and I simply had some peanut butter and jelly for a holdover lunch as soon as two slices of bread I took from the freezer thawed up, with no snack to follow that up with.

She had a half-hour meeting up here in the apartment at 1, and I passed its duration by reading The Last Word in last week's issue of The Week, which I had brought upstairs at Mom's suggestion the other day after learning only then of Biden having officially stepped down from running again for president (I have not been on top of The Week in general lately, due to other priorities whenever I'm not working). That article dealt with people known as late-bloomers, whose success in life begins somewhat late therein; the first half describes the particular life of Paul Cézanne, and I could see enough parallels to my own life to recommend to Marie and Mom, the latter whom had already meant to read it.

Following her meeting, Marie took me to Dairy Queen at my request, but declined preemptively to order anything herself, and suggested en route that we just take my stuff home to eat while watching an episode.

For conversation, I brought up how words for different colors in a given language tend to cover different actual ranges of color from any other language, as per this Cracked article (item #3). In the case of brown, Pepper's hair is specified on the wiki as taupe (which also appeared in that article), while Anne's and Hanna's, though similar, are simply classified as dark brown. More notably, though, Norma's is classified as dark blonde, which actually does not surprise me since I do gather brown to be a dark shade of yellow, orange, or red.

(Outside of Sugar, I also mentioned La Pucelle's hair from Magical Girl Raising Project, while normally ash-blonde, to be taupe from the forehead down in the one shot I currently have as my wallpaper (set in her human form Souta's room). I had also noticed before, in Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya, Rin's hair, while normally almost black, to have a more pronounced brown in at least one firelit scene (ditto for Ayu's at dusk in Kanon, from when the topic itself came up originally).)

Upon arriving, I ordered a chicken strip sandwich, which came with some fries, and a cotton candy Blizzard Treat. Managed to eat that sandwich during the ride home, but Marie suggested we share those fries with our parents. They turned out to be asleep when we came inside, but then Mom called to me and asked if I wanted something, before getting up and giving me a few bananas to bring upstairs.

She came up with Marie a few minutes after I made my own way upstairs, but somehow, I was having a hard time getting the player to display anything even when I could hear the disk spinning inside. Didn't take long thereafter, though, and we watched episode 4 from there (3 already in the morning), even though Mom had already seen up through 6.
