Brian and Emily came over to visit two nights ago.

-----

Yesterday, Mom had some shopping to do inside Walmart before driving me home. I went to the car to wait for her after leaving a few things with her that I picked out, and turned the AC on without turning the car itself on first.

This prevented the car from starting up when she came out from the store. She spent the next ten minutes calling Brian and Emily to no avail to come help us. With our jumper cables in Brian's minivan, she decided just to go back in to buy some new ones (what a coincidence that she normally parks near auto care to drop me off or drive me home), but Emily finally got back to her after we made it inside. An employee asked Mom what was going on and offered a jump himself, allowing her to call Emily back to let her know things were fine.

He used some kind of compact device to start the battery back up, and Mom decided to invest in one for future instances; should obviously be better than a cable, usable without a second vehicle in place.

Brian and Emily turned out not to be home when we got home. Brian, however, did come up to the apartment upon arriving home to retrieve his phone where it turned out he had forgotten it.

From what I gather, Brian also looked into recharging the car battery the rest of the way. He told Dad that he got it somewhere around 12.6 volts, which Dad says is still low. (Mom has taken the pickup to work this morning for that reason.)
