Mar. 12th, 2026 05:32 amFinished brunifying Peach in that opening cutscene. Will take care of those two endgame shots another day, along with recoloring Mario's hair black to complete the classic look from up through Super Mario World, especially since this game gives him opportunities to jerk people around (one of which subtly rewards you).
(I do gather Peach's hair to be brown on her sprite in that game (still blonde on the Japanese cover image and in the game's final shot), something I obviously didn't pay attention to back whenever I beat the game myself. Also ironically, while Mario's own hair had become brown for all combined cover images of that game and Super Mario Bros. 3, it's still black not only on his sprites but even in minigame instruction cutscenes where he appears much larger, while Luigi's is brown there instead of its normal black (at least in Super Mario All-Stars), as I gather on The Spriter's Resource.)
From there, I did pinpoint on the ROM map where that one move's data would likely be stored, but I actually feel like switching gears now. Since we'll be having company soon for my birthday, now does not seem like a good time to actively tuck into anything, so I shifted focus to Kiratto Kaiketsu, a relatively simple board game as opposed to a full-fledged RPG.

I should've mentioned the other day, that the reason I didn't check anyone's alternate palettes back when I played that so on and off, is because each subsequent palette only becomes accessible to subsequent players to whoever chooses a given character first, unlike in Super Smash Bros. or Battle Arena Toshinden that lets you simply toggle between palettes (such a feature is already on my main hacking agenda).
As it turns out, Ryoko's hair is quite brown on her fourth palette, but the closest Tomo comes is auburn on her third.

I soon got around to opening that adapter. Turns out it's meant for PCs, which would let me bypass my TV and laptop. However, while my external DVD drive still contained one of my DVDs of Strawberry Marshmallow (didn't work so well to record from for my brunette-girl video; had to pull that up online like everything else), the installation disk didn't seem to fit at first, and I sent Mom an email and text each (she was out getting a pedicure) about picking up an actual CD drive at BestBuy. She did get back to me before even coming home, but it was when we were putting a quick dinner together that she would have me show her the actual problem. Turns out I was being overly cautious by stopping short of fitting the disk around the axis lest it break, when it actually did snap into place that time.
