7th grade was one of the best years of my life. I can remember all kinds of things that happened back then, trivial and prominent alike. I can remember doing things with my family, such as going to a demolition derby, visiting the Sony building in New York City, attending Adam's baptism and his half-brother Cameron's birthday party on the same day, and bring Marie's then-friend Lauren on a week long trip in Acadia National Park in Maine. I used to have other friends besides Matthew Neiditch, such as Jenna DeVito, Taison Miller, James Pesch, Kenny Franklin, and someone named Libby whose last name I can't remember. (Libby, if you're still reading this, would you mind commenting, please?) In fact, even remembering exactly what my school looked like on the inside feels nolstalgic.

I'm glad I was able to remember lots of stuff from back then, but if I could write any work of fiction based off of those memories, I wouldn't want it to be all about me. That was already the point of writing Chronicles of 7th Grade, which I still haven't completed in years. What I'd do is, I'd create a domestic sequel to Mon Colle Knights, in which Mondo Ohya, Rockna Hiragi, and her father Ichirobei Hiragi spend a year with the other half of the Hiragi family (i.e. Midori and Katsuo), who (in this fic) had been separated by divorce for many years. Unfortunately for them, it turns out that Midori has become an alcoholic, Katsuo has joined a gang because of his trouble with girls picking on him, and the two of them just haven't gotten along since their separation from Ichirobei and Rockna. This will set up a conflict for those characters, in which Ichirobei and the Knights would help them overcome.

And then there's all of the characters that Mondo and Rockna make friends with in the Longwood Middle School during their year-long stay in New York. Most of the stuff that goes on with those characters would be on the sidelines.

How is this going to fit into the Monster Collection Chronicles timeline? It won't without creating all kinds of problems. This fic is it's own sequel to the Mon Colle Knights anime. But the real problem is as follows:

Bloghunting is a horribly inefficient method for finding other people's memories. All kinds of complications come with it, none of which I feel like describing. It just seems way easier just to somehow form a physical group of people around my age who are interested in sharing whatever they can remember from school year 1998-99. The method I'm thinking of is to begin a "nolstalgia club" in my current school whenever possible, which won't require that I go up to random people and ask if they're willing to contribute to the project. While it might interest some people, the big question is: How am I going to entice them to come up with as much stuff as they can remember from that year? Money might seem like a good idea, except that I only have so much of that. Dunkin' Donuts are another possibility, but some people (especially those on diets) might reject that. Burning ROMs to CDs? Maybe, except that almost anyone can figure out how that's done. Like they say, there is no one-size-fits-all. I'll need to talk to Mom or Dr. Perret tonight so see what would work, or if they can think of an even better approach.
