Oct. 22nd, 2008 06:03 amI should have mentioned that Marie went home on Sunday night, but she's due to come home again this coming weekend.
Yesterday morning, our computer screen started flashing green, and I became worried that we might have gotten a virus. I called Mom's work number, but she took a while to call me back. When she did, she told me that the monitor might be burning out, and we'll have to replace it.
I tried again to save a bunch of my files to some disks, but for some reason, our hard drive isn't letting me do that. I showed that problem to Mom when I got home from school. She called Brian, and he suggested that we get a Flash drive (which I don't have any of). Mom and I agreed that we would pick one up at Staples when she picks me up from school today.
A few days ago, I came up with some kind of business plan in which I would buy games from Ebay and then rent them to people online. This is something I even brought up with Sheryll two days ago when I was managing the circulation desk for the first time, since we were already making small talk. I called Brian last night to tell him about it, and he said that how I intend to do things is mostly faulty (too many flaws to describe), and I might be better off running an Ebay store and buying games at low prices to sell for more.
Well, just saying that these games don't have enough of a fanbase isn't sufficient; it was predicted that Console Classix wouldn't last more than two weeks, especially what with ROM sites that let you download ROMs permanently and for free, but it's actually done quite well for eight years. However, Brian did point out a number of flaws with my plan, and even did make a better suggestion for raising capital while I'm still in school.
Running an online rental store would also require that I learn HTML, which I don't have time for right now but will have to learn at some point anyway. I also need to make a list of games that have yet to be translated, for when I get to the real thing, and I've started that list just yesterday. (Good thing I already have a mostly complete list of Super Famicom games from last year, which can be found here.
