I'm back!!!
Jun. 3rd, 2006 07:35 amI just got home last night, at 2:00 A.M. roughly. Well, here's as much as I can remember about all of last week:
Thursday: Like I said, I refrained completely from playing Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, except for listening to music. I didn't watch All My Children, nor am I ever going to, due to the slow-ass pace of the show.
While we were at the airport to leave the U.S., I noticed a screenshot for an unreleased Sonic the Hedgehog game for Playstation3. It looks a lot like Shadow the Hedgehog, and I can't wait to read about it. I also read a parody of Brokeback Mountain in a MAD Magazine that Mom bought for us to read.
While we were on the plane, someone in front and one seat to the left of me was watching the Cartoon Network lineup. I didn't watch anything on my screen, but I watched whatever he was watching from over the seat. I did tune in to Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, though; the two main characters are rather cute, unlike anyone from Codename Kids Next Door or Ed, Edd, & Eddy. If I ever happen to be on time for it at home, I might watch an episode now and then.
At exactly midnight, I was going to call someone randomly using the plane-phone on my seat, but Marie gave me a pap on the arm to tell me to stop. Instead of following through with my planned prank, I got all worked up and literally pressed her buttons...or more acurately, the buttons on her remote. After a minute worth of trouble, Mom ordered me to switch seats with Dad, and I still had a fit two hours later, when we entered the Heathrow airport. (Normally, I would've taken that in stride, but we were all tired and restless.)
Throughout the week, we visited a whole bunch of museums and various other places. For the most part, there isn't much worth noting here. On Friday or Saturday, we visited a market sale, but the only thing that interested me there was the baked goods section. Mom lent me L7 (equivalent to $14 U.S.), but I only managed to buy one brownie before we left. We then visited some bookstore, and I hung around by the graphic novels shelf. I noticed a manga called Van Von Hunters, but that's the only manga that I haven't seen in any American Borders store yet.
On Tuesday, we went on a regular train ride (not a subway/tube ride) to York, and spent almost the whole day there. The first half of the day was spent at the train museum. Not much of interest here. After that, we walked through the marketplace, and visited some Cathedral with a really long staircase. I chose not to climb the stairs because there is no going back down once you start climbing. We also went to some Japanese shop to look around. No manga here; just merchandise in general.
On Wednesday, we went to some art museum, which Brian chose instead of Dad. Actually, Dad and Marie were at the London Zoo, and only me, Brian, and Mom went to that museum. During the tour there, I noticed something by Jenny Holzer, called Truisms, which makes statements contrary to cliches we often here in daily life. They were displayed one at a time on one of those things which displays red, moving text made up of tiny red dots.
Thursday, the next day: Mom brought me to the Tower of London, where we went on a tour with a group of other people. One of the beef-eaters there was giving it, but it was really boring, so we went back to our apartment after a few stops.
On that night, Marie tuned in to some English version of American Idol, called The X Factor: Battle For the Stars. Some girl was singing a song she made up, called I Love Rock 'N' Roll. While she was singing, I wen't like "Rock 'n' roll, rock 'n' roll, rock 'n' roll, yeah yeah" a bunch of times over, after that joke from The Andy Milonakis Show where Andy carries two adults on a wagon and asks them what they want to "listen" to.
When we first came to England, I was glad to be away from my video games and my computer. However, for the first half of the week, I was already depserate to get home so I can start drawing manga characters. In particular, I wanted to start so I could eventually draw well-endowed teenage/adult versions Rockna, Beginner, Gluko, and even Mondo from Mon Colle Knights; Delia from Pokemon; four girls I actually knew from real life (no names will be given); and one original character. I even considered drawing so I could sell pictures on Ebay, of whatever actions any bidder would want of which character. For the second half of the week, I just wanted to get home to continue playing the Sonic game.
Yesterday was our last day in Great Britain. We all went to St. Paul's Cathedral, and everyone except me went inside to climb the staircase. I waited for them on one of the benches in the rose garden. While I was waiting, I watched the pidgeons flock around to eat the crumbs of some other family's lunch while they stomp their feet to shoo the birds. The garden wasn't overly crowded yet, but it became so when everyone returned to find me. We all had lunch at that time, and we enjoyed the company of, like, twenty-two pidgeons and even a squirrell. In fact, Mom took a picture of us eating and went out of her way to capture a few pidgeons in said photo.
On that same day, we left. During the air trip home, I watched an episode of House, which lasted 45 minutes and ended nineteen minutes before HHPAY. For most of the rest of the way, I fell asleep on Mom's lap, but it wasn't nearly as comfortable as sleeping in a bed. Somehow, I found myself wide awake, even when we got to the airport, although I did start falling asleep during the driving portion home.
On a final note, if any of you readers have ever played the Game Gear version of Sonic Chaos (and I have it in the Mini-Games Collection on Sonic Adventure DX), the Gigapolis theme makes a suitable song for the calm, noctournal environment of being in the air at nighttime. (I do understand that the Master System version has a different Gigapolis theme, though.)
