Zits, Blondie, Baby Blues, Ziggy, and The Lockhorns were all funny yesterday. In Zits, Connie lectures Jeremy about his cell phone bill, and instead of listening to her, he summarizes what she's saying to him. (There's a similar joke on page 78 in Matt Groening's book The Big Book of Hell.) In Blondie, Mr. Dithers dresses up and talks like a pirate captain, which gets everyone to work. Dagwood comes home and tells Blondie that everything went great, even though he wishes he never got him that Pirates of the Carribbean DVD. In Baby Blues, Zoe tells Darryl that Hammie vomited all over his bed, and he gives her five dollars to bother Wanda about it instead. In Ziggy, an upside-down nurse opens an upside-down door and says "The doctor will see you about your disorientation problem now." And finally, in The Lockhorns:

-Leroy and Loretta each have a Sudoku puzzle in hand, and Leroy says "If I wanted to tackle a number puzzle, Loretta, I'd balance our checkbook."
-Loretta visits Leroy in the hospital and says "You got five 'get well soon' cards from co-workers and one 'get well now' card from your boss."
-Loretta says onto the phone "Hello, 911? My husband 'tried this at home.'"
-Leroy is vacuuming, and asks "How often do I change what bag?"
-Leroy is sleeping on the couch, and Loretta tells her friend "I think of Leroy as our sofa's screensaver."

First thing yesterday, I looked up Bill the Cat (a character from Opus) on Wikipedia, and found out that Berkeley Breathed, the author of the Opus continuity (consisting of Bloom County, Outland, and Opus) wrote some children's books of the same universe. One of them, titled A Wish For Wings That Work, was made into a video, but other than that, Opus never did air as an animated TV series or in any movies. If I'm sure I saw Opus on TV once when I was little, and my parents don't ever remember it, then that must be what I remembered. I told Mom and Dad about it later on, and Mom suggested that I write it on the shopping list so that Mom picks it up at the library when she drops Marie off to work.

I also found out yesterday (also from Wikipedia) that you can listen to the songs from Sonic CD by putting the disk into a CD player.

Last night, Brian decided that he would like to go to the Pita House for his birthday dinner this year. We went there last night, and on the way there, I told everyone that I found a CD containing the song Stay in the Light. Brian asked if I was sure it wasn't called Stayin' Alive, and then asked where I found it. I told them that I just picked it out randomly from one of the computer drawers.

While we were at the restaurant, I told Mom that I noticed that Opus was voiced by the same voice actor that played Chaz from Rugrats. What's funny, is that I actually thought of Opus having a similar voice to either Rocko or Heffer from Rocko's Modern Life. I even told them that it's especially ironic, since only a few years ago, I hated Nickelodeon and would give everyone a hard time every time someone turned it on. I did tell them, though, that I don't have that gripe anymore against it. Everything else we spoke of at the Pita House was just this and that, nothing much to remember.

When we got home, Mom and Dad sat down on the couch, Brian was in the computer room chatting with his friends, but Marie was ready to listen to "Stayin' Alive." I put my Sonic CD disk into the CD player, and played the Bad Future theme to Wacky Workbench (Track #17), and Marie and I danced to it. I played it a second time, and Brian came out to hear it during mid-song.

(Eh, eh, mighty!)

Good joke, wasn't it? Actually, that song is only available on the English version of the game. The Japanese version featured an entirely different soundtrack, save for the past themes for each zone. The song in question replaced a much more satanic song, which I somehow got onto iTunes after listening to it on my Sonic & Knuckles disk.

(Eh, eh, mighty!)
