Yesterday, I had an appointment with Dr. Perret after school. When Mom came to pick me up, we had some time to kill before the appointment.

Cousin Adam's birthday is coming up, and while we were driving around, Mom showed me a three-book set of Ralph books, which consisted of The Mouse on the Motorcycle, Runaway Ralph, and Ralph S. Mouse. I thought it would make a good present for Adam. I remember loving the videos based on these books when I was little; Ralph S. Mouse was also one of the books Ms. Edis assigned to the class when I was in third grade, which we all took turns reading aloud.

Before going over to Dr. Perret's office, Mom drove to some liquor store, and there was also a bank in the same parking lot. While she got whatever she needed, I went over and deposited a check into a bank other than the one I usually go to for the first time. After we were done, we still had twenty more minutes to kill, so we decided to get ice cream. (What a coincidence it is that the parlor we went to was called Ralph's Italian Ices, when Mom got a book series called Ralph the Mouse.) She got a small cup of chocolate ice cream, and I got a small cup of Peppermint Patty.

I spoke to Dr. Perret about my writer's block, and he told me that it's important to plan out how a story should end and how the characters' personalities should change throughout the story. Obviously, in the end of my fic, the babyfied characters are going to revert back to their normal age; other than that, I have nothing else planned out, but I'll put some thought into it when I get around to it.

I also discussed activities with him, and why I rarely bother to look for anything to do besides play my games during my down time. That topic covered pretty much all the same stuff I already covered in this blog.

Moving on, gemstones are the reason I'm always tempted to start a new game (for exactly the fifth time) in Dark Cloud. However, the reason I resist this temptation is because I don't want to go through all the same stuff again as before, and the longer I wait before playing it again, the more special it will feel than the first four times. I looked up gemstones on Wikipedia during my free time at school, and found a list of fictional gemstones under the See Also subtitle. I made quite a few additions to the list, but they were mostly video game references.

At dinner last night, I asked what exactly separates rubies and sapphires in particular from other such minerals, yet together with each other. I also told everyone about their role in Dark Cloud, which also includes aquamarine, topaz, peridot, etc., and Mom told me that those were birthstones, which is why minerals such as jade and onyx were not included. I looked up birthstones online, and made an additional contribution to Wikipedia's Dark Cloud page right before typing this blog entry.

Finally, the last chapter of Genesis of an Adventure has been posted, and I gave it a read yesterday.
