May. 30th, 2007 07:29 amI signed up for bowling (again) for the first-five-week half of the summer semester. It was a last-minute decision, so we were unable to get a bus to pick me up and drop me off yesterday. Instead, I came down to the shop with Dad and Brian, and Dad had me vacuum his office and the van, before driving me to campus.
I finally started to get into computer-aided drawing. Someone at the Project S forums is hosting art contests each month, and as soon as the first Tiara contest is hosted, I hope to have some artwork to submit. I've spent the past few days drawing Tiara holding her nose, and I'm almost done; all that's left is to draw the eyes and eyelashes, and color everything in.
Last night, while we were eating dinner, Dad came home only seconds after I asked to be excused. I continued working on the aforementioned picture, but overheard Mom say something about "Ocean Quest" (an old computer game we used to have), and I joined back in and told her that the game was actually called "Eco Quest." From there on, we all brought up all kinds of computer games that we used to play before Mom got me a SNES for Christmas of 1995. One of Dad's favorites was Aces Over Europe, which is some kind of aerial combat simulator of either World War I or World War II, not sure which. Other games we used to play included Lost Mind of Dr. Brain, Spellicopter, Math Maze, Tetris, Dinosaurus, Jason Storm in Space Chase 3, and many more. Mom even confused two other games as one single game; one was called Donkey, where you ride a racecar on a two-lane road and have to avoid crashing into stray donkeys, and the other game was Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, where you drive a car while learning how to type, and a fly lands on the windshield each time you make a mistake. Marie tried to remember some game she used to play that involved "Mr. Bear and Mrs. Bear," and at first, we thought it was The Busy World of Richard Scary, which involves driving around Busytown and learning how to do certain jobs. However, I then remembered that she was actually referring to StickyBear, which we used to play at the library.
Super Buster Brothers was also something we used to like. Brian brought it up in the same conversation we had, even though it's an SNES game, not a PC game. Aunt Marie and Uncle Ray owned that game since I was in 3rd grade, and it was my absolute favorite game to play each time we visited them.
Later on last night, I noticed that the moon was full, and I let everyone know upon coming back inside. Mom came out to see it, and she said that it looked like a pearl. That reminded her of some song by Tom Waits, which happened to be the intro theme to Night on Earth. (The first line was "I was a boy; the moon was a pearl.") I told her that I remember that song from when I was in 1st grade, and she told me what the show was about. We went inside, and Dad was watching Soul Plane (aired on BET last night), and she asked Dad if he remembered NoE.
And to wrap this entry up, the season finale of House aired last night at 9:00, and I stayed up and watched it with Brian while Marie was busy getting ready for bed.
