Even though I got an ISO copy of Makeruna Makendou Z, I'm unable to actually play it on any of the three PC-FX emulators in existence. One of those three is Xe, which emulates a number of consoles; the current version has no PC-FX emulation yet, but that's being worked on right now. The second one is Mednafen, which for some reason, didn't come with the actual emulator, just a multitude of documents containing notes and programming code. And finally, there's Magic Engine FX, which is supposed to work, but is not nearly as simple as using emulators for systems like the Super NES, Nintendo 64, Genesis, or even the Sega CD or 32X.

TheNewX stated that he used either Xe or MEFX (he couldn't remember which), but it has to be the latter since the former doesn't work with PC-FX ISOs yet. According to him, "the ISO has to be burned using a certain program (I think Alchol 120% does it best" so that the game disk gets created right." And even when the game becomes playable, the music is still choppy. Since Brian is more knowledgeable about this kind of stuff (CD burning, etc.), I think I might wait for him to come home to help me with this. (Mom said that he should be home in time for my birthday when I asked her.) Still, there are alternatives, both of which require waiting: waiting for PC-FX compatibility to get built into Xe will require only that. However, buying a real PC-FX and copy of MMZ costs much more money than the $19 I'd be paying to register Magic Engine FX, takes up space, requires an environmentally unfriendly delivery trip, and could be a total waste if a translation patch does come out for the game eventually.

Speaking of translation patches, I think I might do one for MMZ someday, but obviously not today. Forget the fact that I'm still busy playing Pokemon Pearl; if I can't play MMZ, then I can't read anything in it, and I can't translate what I can't read. However, I can continue writing chapters for SMW2: Yoshi's Island rewritten, write a translation patch for the original Makeruna Makendou, continue working on Mai's first real pic, and eventually get around to hacking SMW2: Yoshi's Island. Actually, the last thing mentioned is quite troublesome, and I doubt I'm gonna get to that anytime soon, but if I'm right, it could be possible to write new code into an existing ROM by, first, writing it in a language such as Java, and then converting it into Hexadecimal to be merged with the existing game code.
