Aug. 10th, 2008 08:42 amSo much has happened yesterday that I don't think I'll explain all of the details.
First, I started playing Pokemon Pearl first thing in the morning. The swarmer of the day was Pidgey at Route 229. Previously, I had traveled across Route 225 and made it to the Survival Area, but the faster way to 229 was through Route 230 from the Fight Area. I also made a point of battling all trainers and finding a Togepi on the grassy island, and after lunch, we spent the rest of the day at various places, so I was in a bit of a hurry. I wish I could have used a Luxury Ball on it, as I had seventeen of those, but I didn't want to risk letting it kill itself. You see, after knocking off half its HP, I put my Sharpedo against it and used Taunt. It didn't have any damaging moves of its own, so it only had a sliver of health left after using Struggle and touching Sharpedo's Rough Skin. But it's a good thing we had spent the rest of the day away from home, because Ariados only comes out at nighttime.
Before we left, we wrote a few things on that shoebox that we put some stuff in before burying it. I do remember that we got in 1995, when I was in 3rd grade, but Marie was confused about the year, so Mom just wrote "2008" under "Sabrina" to mark the year of her death. I wrote "Bye, kitty!" and Marie wrote "Muffin cat!" (one of her affectionate names for her.) I dug the hole in which we buried the box, and filled it back up.
The first place we went to was the Vanderbilt Museum. To me, nothing really stood out, but Mom did point out a replica of a tiger that frightened Brian when we went there in 1993. I remember going there when I was little, but only two things really stand out. One was when I inserted a penny into some funnel where it just spirals down into the hole, and the other was of me and Brian stopping some other kid named Georgian and handing him to his mother.
(Speaking of 1993, this was another thing related to the days before I had video games. Remember, my first video game was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Game Gear, which I got for my birthday in 1994.)
Next was Ikea, where we were gonna pick up some stuff for Marie's dormitory. At first, I was in charge of tending the cart, but after some ten minutes, Mom let me go wander off while she and Marie continue shopping. I just wandered off, eventually, into a shopping mall next door. While I was there, I walked into the game store and looked around at what was there. A few minutes after I left that place, Mom called me on my cell phone, and I backtracked into Ikea. Mom actually found me between Ikea and some place that resembled Home Depot.
After that, we went to American Cafe. I ordered a chili burger, Marie ordered macaroni, and I don't know what Mom ordered. Not much to say about that, but there was an ice cream parlor only a few blocks away from there. I got a lemon ice, Mom got a chocolate ice, and Marie got some kind of brown drink.
Finally, we dropped Marie off at Scott's house.
I'm glad Ariados was the first Pokemon I came across upon coming home, because I'm usually tired by 8 PM. I wish that nightfall in Diamond and Pearl would take place at 6 instead of 8, just like in Gold/Silver/Crystal. That worked so much better then.
