Last night was the night that me and my family finally celebrated my birthday. Mom brought home some Turkish takeout for dinner. However, she never had time to bake a birthday cake, so she instead presented a candle-lit plate of Baklavah.

For a gift, I received the entire DVD set of Maburaho. Well, I did tell her to just buy anything of my favorite anime substyle (i.e. large eyes, speck-like noses, lips drawn as lines, etc.), but honestly, I don't know about this one. I mean, I appreciate the fact that she did pick something out that has basically the same drawing style as such other anime as Mon Colle Knights, Divergence Eve, A Little Snow Fairy Sugar, School Rumble, and Koharu Biyori. However, the violent fantasies that I described as Katsuo's fic three entries ago are the result of being exposed to all these anime (including the mostly serious Neon Genesis Evangelion) where a male character always ends up getting the short end of the stick, combined with the fact that this rarely happens with any female character.

For someone like me, harem series are probably something to avoid like the plague. However, I did once read the entire first manga volume of Negima!, and I gotta admit that I liked it a lot better than Love Hina. So, maybe I will give this series a try, and if the dark thoughts arise, then I'll just cut my losses and stop watching it.

Last night, Mom took Brian to the train station, and I came with her so I could stop at Toys 'R' Us to download Regigigas onto my newly received copies of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Ironically, even though the data on Diamond didn't delete itself, that on Pearl did despite having the exact same sticker as my real copy of Pearl. Of course, I should've been suspicious of that, since the case itself is designed differently from any of my other Nintendo DS games. Still, I was able to download Regigigas onto Diamond. Today, I'm gonna bring all three game cards and my DS to that Pokemon Platinum party, in case any Pokemon there are available to download. While I'm there, if it's possible, I'm also going to have someone there help me trade a Turtwig and a Chimchar onto my real Pearl copy, so that I can later trade them onto Platinum.

As for shipping them back, Mom said that it's probably not worth it, since mailing anything to China would cost about $10. That means that I'm not really getting my money back, and if the sellers don't refund me, I'm only gonna end up losing more than I've already lost. Probably best to leave neutral feedback for both these assholes.

These two games were originally gonna be birthday presents for Adam, but considering my money situation as of right now, I think it would be best if I wait until I have more money in the bank. I'll probably look for some real copies then, to give to Adam next Christmas. I mean, I don't normally buy him anything for his birthday anyway, and if he played the games only to have them self-destruct on him, he'd be really disappointed.

Just my luck, isn't it! First, Pokemon Sapphire, which I bought from Amazon, then Ruby and FireRed, from Ebay, and now these two phony pieces of shit!

Even though I am back on good terms with Chelle, I don't know how much longer I'm going to regret having linked to that fanfic that I mentioned last entry. In any case, though, it is interesting to have him as a friend, and not just because we both found out we had been friends with a fellow autistic person. We're both into anime, but he talks a lot more about it than I do. I talk a lot more about video games than I write about anime, but I only remember reading one entry where he apparently spoke about a video game (and even then, he didn't mention the game's title). To make things more interesting, both of us have a vastly different array of anime that we've watched, and Mon Colle Knights is the only title that both of us have watched thoroughly.

Okay, so Chelle had already established his avoidance of excess fanservice half a year ago, which is why I feel guilty about linking to a fic based on a series that falls exactly into that category. To simply refer to anything fanservice-oriented within my own blog entries is one thing; to link to the fic in question saying "I know you avoid such-and-such, but I'll cut-and-paste some stuff from it to give you an idea of situation x" was just boneheaded.

Of course, fanservice is actually a secondary factor that I look for in anime. I don't know what Chelle looks for in anime, but personally, I look for... just attractive cute girls in general. Even A Little Snow Fairy Sugar fulfills that prerequisite; that series has minimal fanservice, and is in fact one of the most juvenile anime I've ever heard of, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.
