Made it through all of yesterday without playing Getter Love!! I've been playing that game as a way to help myself retain the skills I learn from Japanese in Mangaland, but that hasn't been working out because by the time each game ends, I've already stopped caring what anyone says.

Even so, it looks like this is what I'm still gonna be playing for another week, and it's a lot more entertaining than playing through each of the same parts in Makeruna! Makendou Z multiple times, checking for mistakes in my transcript. I asked Mom which day Brian and Marie will be home "this" week, and she said that they're both coming home Friday next week. Considering that I chose to receive my birthday gifts when they're both home, this will delay the time before I start playing Pokemon HeartGold or SoulSilver, just in time for the upcoming wi-fi event for Yellow Forest.

Still, I'm only gonna be seeing Kenji for two more sessions before he goes on Spring Break. I already gave him a disk containing the prologue from MMZ, the hidden FMV sequence, and two of the Omakes from Makeruna! Makendou 2, so that's something. Mom also said that after he takes his several weeks off, I'm still gonna be seeing him six more times, so that should be enough time for him to work on everything that I've taped (assuming he's even working on what I gave him thus far).

Wanna know what else sucks? Kanji quizzes. I remember taking them last fall, and now that I've come back to them just recently, it took me a good number of attempts to get most of the first quiz right (which goes on for more than 200 combinations). That's kinda like the approach I took when I used to borrow that Japanese word dictionary from the library, read each word starting from the A's, recite them, and then move onto the next section. As you could guess, that didn't work. On the other hand, I can immediately recognize the kanji for "taberu" (to eat) from the very first scene in MMZ. With just about everything else, I need to consult my kanji dictionary.

Still, unlike reciting words, I don't know if there exists a better way to learn kanji.
