Grandpa Bob had gone home yesterday morning.

-----

First thing's first, Mom had off from work yesterday. Before my appointment at UCP, she and I went to the dermatologist so that I could get some new stuff to fight my acne with.

So far, Mom had recently found something for me about applying for a job at Stonybrook Hospital. While we were in the car, she told me to ask Bobby about finding a Civil Service job in a New York State facility. However, I never got the chance to. As soon as I met him, he told me to go to the group room to look through this week's job applications packet, and then he and someone else had me take some tests on typing, sorting, and comparing things. However, I did tell him that I'd bring the issue up next week.

On the way home, Mom decided to stop at Borders, and then Target, since they were both right along the way. During our stop at Borders, I looked through what few anime DVDs there were left over. Not counting what I've seen before (i.e. Tea Society of a Witch), the only ones I would've liked (based on the facial designs) were as follow:

Amusement Park: Another one of those titles where you decide what happens with the DVD remote. I already have reason to believe, like with Tea Society of a Witch, that it got butchered and never got dubbed.

Hayate the Combat Butler: What? His parents took what little money he had to work for, instead of earning money by themselves? Forget it!

Ikki Tousen: Yeah, I read the first three volumes of its manga counterpart Battle Vixens. And, while I do like cute girls with big breasts, what I don't like is the established rule that all victories and defeats were determined long before the fighting began.

Mom then asked me if I ever read that book called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, which is about an autistic boy who has similar gimmicks for determination as myself. For example, the number of white cars and red cars, and the order in which they pass him, determines whether his day will be good or bad. I told her that she showed me that book in 2003, and I read it the whole way through. (Chelle, there's something you might want to give a try. Why not?)

There was once a time, when I was nine, which I would frequently tell Brian to tell me a Street Fighter fight between our dog Lucy and our cat Sabrina (since, well, they actually were rather hostile to each other at the time). At that time, the copy of Street Fighter II that we currently own belonged to Cousins Dennis and Steven, until they gave us that (along with Paperboy 2 and Champions World Class Soccer) for Christmas two years later. I did remember at the time what six of the playable fighters in that game were, but forgot what the remaining two were, until they turned out to be Zangief and Dhalsim.

So, what's this got to do with anything? Well, yesterday, I watched James Rolfe's newest episode of Board James, in which he shows us some board games that he designed when he was a kid. Watch a minute and 52 seconds into the video and you'll see where it starts to become relevant:

Brian had finally gotten around to showing me how to use the VCR and EZ Grabber to upload everything I taped. And this time, me and Mom took our time to draw some diagrams of how everything's supposed to be hooked up. Now that I know how to do it, I can wait until Monday, when I'm the only one home most of the day, so that I can stop the tape between scenes and wrap things up altogether when everyone starts coming home.

(As it turns out, that S-video cable wasn't necessary after all. Good thing it hardly costed anything when I bought it from Ebay.)

Seeing how we had problems with the DVD half of the unit last time I tried this, Mom asked me to make sure that everything's in working order after I hooked it back up to the TV. First disk I tested was Wings of Desire, but it turned out that that one's black-and-white to begin with. I tried something else, and it turns out that the color was intact.

After we were done with that whole thing, Brian then asked me if there was any place where he could get some games for his Game Boy Advance. Me and Mom told him that GameStop carries lots of used games for that console. At first, Brian decided to take care of things there, but then asked Mom how long it would be until dinner was ready. Mom told him that it would still be open after we ate, and he then decided to wait until after dinner...until Mom found out that we were out of barbecue sauce. Since there's also a Stop 'N' Shop in the same parking lot as GameStop, Mom had me and Brian go down there and take care of things in one trip.

So, me and Brian spent about 15 or 20 minutes looking around at GameStop. I didn't really intend to buy anything there, but Brian bought Robotech: The Macross Saga and Rebel Star: Tactical Command for his GBA.

(About the first of those two games, one would wonder what that game was called in Japan. I do understand that Macross and Robotech were two different anime in Japan, before being merged into one in North America. However, if the game even was called anything different in Japan, Wikipedia did not specify.)

So anyway, Brian's friend Claire is at our house this morning. Brian was still asleep on the futon by the time she got here, Claire told Mom not to wake him up, but Mom let him know anyway.
