Had Chelle help me translate one of the cutscenes from Makeruna! Makendou Z for the past few days. I assumed she would be already better at translating stuff than I am, but she was only able to work on the stuff after Doro appears. She wrote in her blog that she already specified that she learns Japanese from watching subtitled anime, but I must have either missed or forgotten that.

Well, gotta give her points for trying.

In any case, Jake already told me before that he's at least good at keeping up with spoken dialogue, so he might be able to write down everything that the characters say. Kenji, unfortunately, has been too busy with other stuff to make any progress with the four things I've given him. The text-accompanied stuff, I should be able to handle on my own, so if I can have Jake write down everything that isn't accompanied by text, then I should be able to handle things from there on... and maybe email Kenji to translate just whatever individual lines I end up skipping over.

Spent a good part of yesterday writing something up that I intend to show Dr. Perret next week. I showed it to Mom when she came home, and she suggested I write an explanation of it all on the next blank page. I think the thing that all of them have in common is the need for consistency, self-set rules, and seeing significant events through. To describe them all here, though, might require its own entry, and might end up being incoherent.

Anyway, me and Mom drove up to the library, and while we were in the car, I spoke mainly about that whole fiasco known as SwordQuest, (described in depth by the Angry Video Game Nerd).

Mom used this show called Deadwood, which she and Dad have been watching on DVD, in an analogy. When she looked the show up on Wikipedia, she found out that there were supposed to be four seasons to it, but something had happened which caused it to be cancelled after the third season. As a result, the series officially ended on a cliffhanger, and no one will ever know what would have happened in the end. The writers and actors have all moved onto other stuff, the town was dismantled, and even if people were to write fanfics about what happens after season 3, it still wouldn't be official.

(Well, even though Deadwood was just gonna be another TV show among many, the concept is still the same, and it does make me feel better about what had ruined the SwordQuest competition.)

If you'd like to know, things would have been a disaster if anything had happened to interrupt Chronicles of 7th Grade or the subsequent Getter Love!! era for long enough for either of them to be forgotten. Those were once-in-a-lifetime events, and while it's one thing if something happens that's actually beyond my control, I wasn't gonna put them aside to focus even more on my schoolwork, which was enough of a time glutton as it was.

Anyway, we went to the post office and the library. Nothing worth noting there. Mom then drove to this park called Cathedral Pines, so that we could do some fitness walking. I had already agreed to it, and when we got there, she asked me if I brought my PokeWalker. I told her that I'm only gonna be using that during times when I'm actually playing the respective game, although I have decided to continue playing SoulSilver last night. Other than that, nothing really important went on there, though Mom did tell me that Brian used to go there when he was in Boy Scouts.

We then went over to Stop 'N' Shop. Nothing worth noting there.

This morning, Mom asked me if she could borrow one of my PokeWalkers, to see how many steps she walks at work in one day. Read more... )
