Jun. 12th, 2010 06:50 amYesterday morning, while I was taking a kanji quiz (yeah, I've been taking them for at least a few weeks now), Dad was watching TV, and I overheard him watching Sesame Street of all things. Next thing I know, he's on the phone with Mom, telling her that everything's now computerized. (This would come up again later on, when they were both home.)
At UCP, we talked about interviewing. I had some practice with Gary, who was running the group meeting for this week, and I told him about how I'm able to type real fast (especially given how often I update this blog), and that I'm teaching myself Japanese. We picked up on it again after watching a video, and he jokingly asked if I would dress up as a samurai once I'm fluent with it. He also asked if I watch anime. Yes I do. He asked if any of it's on TV. I told him that some stuff is available on TV (exactly how I used to watch Pokemon, Digimon, and Mon Colle Knights), but most of what I watch nowadays is either on YouTube or on DVDs I rent from Netflix. Just then, the phone rang, and he joked that it was probably Netflix (a clear indication that he has never heard of that website), but it was actually the bus company letting him know that my bus has come early for me. These meetings end at 12:30; it was 12:00, so he let me go early to catch it.
Anyway, later on back home, Dad was telling him more about what Sesame Street is like nowadays. He admitted that there are some muppet segments, but a lot of it is computer-generated, complete with actual facial expressions. I kinda compared it to Thomas the Tank Engine, which nowadays has some CG segments, but for the most part is still made up of plastic toys. Even though Dad sometimes watches that, he said he didn't notice any such thing in that show, until I told him that they were in-between the main episodes.
Marie briefly came home last night, and Scott was with her. I greeted them shortly after their arrival, at first mistaking Scott for Jacob, and Mom told me that Scott had been in Amsterdam for a year. The two of them stuck around for a bit, but then went somewhere (presumably to a concert called "Jamnesty", which Mom told me about at dinner before they came to the house).
