MCC Knight biographies, updated
Jul. 20th, 2010 09:06 amRecently, I had finally gotten around to requesting some stuff from Jake for Monster Collection Chronicles before I start the first fic once and for all. For one of the things I need, which is some established relations for each Knight that doesn't have one yet, I had also enlisted Chelle's help, but she requested that I write up some updated profiles for each of the Knights.
For the record, I also need a set of spells for each Knight, and what their fighting styles would be (aside from environmental damage, since most types of magic are likely to cause that anyway). However, I'm still leaving that to Jake, because he's the one who wrote up Drake's spell list (the only one established so far) and fighting style. Furthermore, I'm not sure if Chelle would even be interested in establishing spell lists for all the remaining Knights, and if she is, then I might need Jake's permission to use the list he wrote up for Drake as an example.
Anyway, here I go:
Mondo Ohya
Age: 13
Element: Fire
Weapon: Excalibur
Also still carries that grappling hand that he had in the anime, though this might become something else along the way.
Personality: The optimistic hero of the series. Very athletic. Also has a habit of flirting with other girls, which his girlfriend Rockna flies off the handle about. Generally kind to people, and believes in friendship. Afraid of vampires and other undead beings.
Background: Always dreamed of having adventures in Mon World. Most people in his world passed those dreams off as fantasy, and Rockna used to be one of them, until the two of them actually experienced it for the first time.
Relationships: Already in love with Rockna. Makes close friends with Derek and Anneth during his time at the Cult of McKnight. Does not get along well with Drake.
Fighting specifics: (undecided)
Rokuna "Rockna" Hiragi
Age: 13
Element: Light
Weapon: Acolyte (double-handed staff)
Also still has her ribbon, which she used periodically in the anime.
Personality: Mostly cheerful and kind, but loses her temper easily (particularly when Mondo hits up on girls). Enjoys painting, fairy tales, pink things, and cooking (the last which she sucks at). Afraid of frogs. Very conscientious about keeping her house together, though she resents the fact that her father and Mondo never do their share of housework. Currently, her active sixth sense has been a bit of a problem, but mainly in crowded places where people give off their auras.
Background: Her father, Ichirobei, is the scientist who created the Utopian Eagle and ventured into Mon World. The first time going there, she met someone who had unlocked her sixth sense, which she has trouble handling but would have perished inside the Dread Dragon without. Her mother Midori, and her brother Katsuo, had been gone for many years, but returned shortly after she and Mondo returned to Man World after their battle against Redda and Oroboros. Currently, fellow empath Professor David McKnight is willing to help her overcome these, as he is able to cope with crowded places after living most of his life in the city.
Relationships: Already in love with Mondo. Not sure who she'd befriend most in the Cult of McKnight.
Fighting specifics: Undecided, though she'd probably rely more on magic than on physical force.
Katsuo Hiragi
Age: 13
Element: Darkness
Weapon: Menacer (uzi; bullet clips can be created magically or obtained physically.)
Also carries a similar device to Rockna’s ribbon, consisting of a chain on a steel rod, which he swings much more forcefully.
Personality: Very bitter and even more misogynistic. Upon returning from New York, he is somewhat friendly with Mondo and Rockna, but doesn’t approve of her assaults upon Mondo. He encourages Mondo to stand up for himself, and is not fazed by Rockna’s ghost-light trick (which she used in the first anime episode, dub-deleted).
Background: When his family split up, he moved with his mother, Midori, to New York City. There, he had suffered various social problems both at school and at home, which he blames girls for. The bullying he faced started when a former girlfriend splashed him with soda on a date they were on, and then dumped him, and he had not gotten along with his mother very well. Eventually, he joined a gang of youths, and with their help, took revenge on girls by capturing them and bringing them to an abandoned apartment. Most that either refused to rat on anyone else or he recognized as a former tormentor were beaten to death, but Nicole, his aforementioned ex-girlfriend, was tied to a chair and subjected to outright torture for starting the whole ordeal he faced. After this had come to Midori’s attention, this had become the reason for them returning to Japan.
Relationships: Friends with Mondo. Gets along well enough with Rockna, but not so much with the other girls at the Cult.
Fighting specifics: Given that he has not only the only long-range weapon, but one that fires so rapidly, he does not need to rely on magic as much as some of the other Knights. That is, unless he and his comrades are up against something that can withstand bullets, or there are too many targets for the Menacer to take out quickly enough.
Attiya Muqsit
Age: 12
Element: Water
Weapon: Serpent Knife
Personality: A compulsive liar. Carefree, with a touch of a temper. Doesn’t rely on contact with living things, and does just as well on her own… emotionally, that is.
Background: Her real family moves constantly, causing her much agony as they move from place to place. She barely has time to settle down and make friends in one school before leaping to the next. It has become a ritual on starting fresh, with a new story in hand every time. This is why she became an increasingly compulsive liar. Her family has finally eased up, though, and settled at NYC permanently.
Relationships: unestablished
Fighting specifics: unestablished
Davis Kibbit
Age: 12
Element: Earth
Weapon: Diamond Gauntlet
Personality: Helpful, bright, and always willing to lend a hand, the one person you would want in a party. Always prepared for battle, keeping the right amount of items for the job.
Background: Your casual gamer, growing up with many a good game, but none appealed to him like the real-life quest that awaited the Mon Colle Knights. His school and home life were easy, but like Mondo, he wanted some kind of adventure in his life.
Relationships: unestablished
Fighting specifics: Might be in charge primarily of handling items.
Anneth Mackenzie
Age: 11
Element: Wind
Weapon: Gale Flag
Personality: Manages to retain a relatively happy personality, despite the death of her father. Close friends are few but congenial; aquaintances are many.
Background: When her parents were alive, her father was a restaurant manager, and her mother was a teacher. One night, when she, her parents, and her brother Willis, went out for ice cream, her father was killed by a drunk driver.
Relationships: Already friends with Drake. Becomes friends with Mondo after he joins the Cult.
Fighting specifics: undecided
Drake Bolak
Age: 13
Element: Metal (Fire/Earth)
Weapon: Metal Impact (warhammer)
Personality: Drake isn't too talkative, for the most part, but that's because he is used to doing things his way. Being one of the most studious children of the schools he went to, he prefers to speak whenever the others need information about such things, and tends to note down information about Mon World in case it's needed.
Relationships: Friends with Jamison, Elena, Rachael, and Anneth. Has a crush on Elena. Does not get along well with Mondo, and prefers to keep his distance from him.
Fighting specifics: Relies mainly on defending his comrades, not just because of the environmental damage his magic attacks tend to cause (which most types of magic cause anyway), but also because it is impossible to change the direction of his attacks. Does have one of the more powerful weapons, though, so melee is not out of the question for him.
Jamison Russell
Age: 11
Element: Thunder (Fire/Wind)
Weapon: Voltslicer (chainsaw, which can be recharged or activated with either his magical energy or by conventional means.)
Personality: Mainly loud, happy, and lets things roll off his shoulders. He can get a bit touchy at times, and when angry, he doesn’t back down. He’s quite intelligent.
Background: Nothing special, just a regular kid who was friends with Derek’s brother Ryan. Joined when he picked up on what the Cult of McKnight was all about.
Relationships: undecided within the cult.
Fighting specifics: The Voltslicer needs to be running in order for Jamison to fight effectively, whether physically or to cast battle spells. Naturally, this would be a liability if he’s too close to any of his comrades.
Elena Hatch
Age: 13
Element: Nature (Water/Earth)
Weapon: Thorn Whip
Personality: Comes across as one of the more upbeat, outgoing members of the Knights, but this is actually forced for fear of being left alone. Can lose her temper if she perceives something to be unfair.
Background: Elena was always one of the top students in school, always performing at an exemplary rate, to the detriment of her classmates, who did not like her being so better than them at such, and a degree of ostracism was exerted on her; however, despite the pain, she ignored their actions and kept on being the best, which limited her friends. Learned about the Cult of McKnight from her friend Drake, and joined with him.
Relationships: In love with Drake, since he was the only one in her school who didn't mind her being so studious. Despite her facade of happiness, she tends to think of him as her only real friend. Will become better friends with everyone else as the story progresses.
Fighting specifics: Physically, even though she isn't as into sports and athletics as Mondo, she is rather quick and agile in battle, and uses jump attacks to make use of her weapon. The Thorn Whip can also reach towards plants at will, so if she and her comrades are in a forest, she could direct it to a tree to avoid having to jump twice.
Rachael Theune:
Age: 11
Element: Frost (Water/Wind)
Weapon: Arctic Haloes
Personality: Quiet, but is angered easily. Knows Anneth’s younger brother Willis, and returns his affection because she always wanted a younger brother. However, this eventually becomes more than just friendship.
Background: Her parents were killed in a car accident, and she grew up in a foster family who constantly reminded her that she wasn't a member of their family, just someone staying with them until she grew up.
Relationships: Unestablished within the cult.
Fighting specifics: Unestablished
Kasumi McKnight
Age: 13
Element: Time
Weapon: Eternus (Pocket watch. Because she can't fight physically with this, she also carries a nightstick, which will eventually transform into the Time Sword.)
Personality: A cheerful, laidback girl, willing to go along with the flow yet also strong-minded enough to do the right thing over the easy one, relying on her sense of right and wrong to make her decisions. She is very friendly towards others, although although the fact that puberty hit her early has affected her relationships towards boys strongly; in particular, she has some difficulty suppressing her perverted urges. (Ironic, since Rockna has an easier time with this, despite being even more physically developed at this point than her.)
Background: The daughter of Professor David McKnight, who doubled as the leader of a cult known as the Mon Colle Knights. She was urged by her father to join his cult, despite her initial wishes to remain as a normal schoolgirl, but she eventually came to terms with it .
Relationships: Has a crush on Mondo, partially due to his appearance and partially due to his attitude as a hero, although she disapproves of his perverted acts.
Fighting specifics: With Time being her root element, she has such non-offensive abilities as to stop time, slow it down or speed it up, and restore her comrades to pre-battle condition (even if they're dead). However, Time magic is taxing on one's physical energy, so she has to use it sparingly. The Eternus cannot be used as an actual weapon at all, which is why she carries a secondary weapon in her right hand as well.
Derek Ledger
Age: 13
Element: Space (counterpart to Time)
Weapon: Star Shield
Personality: An autistic, laidback boy who likes video games and prefers to keep to himself most of the time. When allowed, he has a tendency to wander around aimlessly. Despite his lack of social initiative, he is physically attracted to the girls in the group, especially Anneth.
Background: Had known Anneth from summer camp a year ago, and joined the team just to be around her. At school, he is guided by an aide, who makes sure he is staying on track. Used to go to weekly sessions at a program called Group, where he met someone named Matthew, who had since become the only person he often actually interacts with.
Relationships: Closest friends with Mondo, but otherwise tends to keep to himself during his downtime.
Fighting specifics: For clarification, Space is the kind of magic that involves telekenisis, teleportation, hypnosis, and anything else along those lines. While the Star Shield would normally be used to defend with, it could also double as a battering ram.
