Marie came home yesterday, after having visited Brian in Silicon Valley for a week.

Well, for the early half of the day, Mom and Dad were out doing stuff (probably at the boatyard). I got started vacuuming, but noticed that Marie fell asleep on the couch, and decided to wait until after she woke up before continuing beyond the kitchen. Also spent some time arranging my team in Pokemon SoulSilver (along with teaching Heatran a TM and getting the Gracidea Flower), now that I'm done trading Pokemon between that game and Diamond.

Mom and Dad came home later on. I asked Mom if she would take care of getting my watch fixed up, and the two of us drove over to RiteAid to pick up a battery for it. I went inside and bought it (as well as having drove there), but Mom took the watch apart when we got home. She accidentally put the face upside down, so just wearing it is not as easy as it should be. I'm fine with having it laying next to me, though, as long as I'm able to make quick decisions based on 10 when I'm playing something like Getter Love!! or Pokemon SoulSilver.

Marie made dinner for us last night. Carbonara, to be more exact. Not my favorite thing to have for dinner, since I have an aversion to chewing peas and have to separate them from everything else. Not that bad, though; certainly better than most kinds of fish, and I did make sure to thank Marie for making dinner (something which I do automatically towards Mom each night).

Mom and Dad went out somewhere after we ate. There were five (and soon, six) things I wanted to show Mom and Marie, but Marie chose to wait until they got back (which was around 8:00). I got in the second of two rounds of Getter Love for yesterday while they were out, and then waited until Dad got in the shower to show them. (Marie was reluctant to bother watching, since she was reading a letter from Aunt Irma that Mom got a few days ago, and then looking at something on her laptop, and Mom had to prod her a bit to come see while she was still here.)

So anyway, all six things I wanted to show them were clips from Lucky Star, and I wanted to ask them if any of the first five scenes reminded them of High School. Marie had only graduated from high school two years ago, but even Mom (or any other post-college adult) would agree that real teenage girls don't talk about food, going to the dentist, Santa Claus, growing, or what kind of animals they and their friends would be. The squeaky voices and cutesy music and visuals only go further to make everything seem more like second grade (the grade Marie started when Tamagochi's were popular, after Mom had asked).

(Well, of course it doesn't. The trope in question is called Puni Plush, and I kinda meant it as a joke to ask the two of them if their high school experiences were anything like that. However, some of the other things they talk about are actually more mature. For example, Konata gets a part-time job mid-series, plays adult video games, and comments every now and then about Miyuki's breasts.)

The sixth thing was a scene from towards the end of episode 17, in which Matsuri whips up some Paella for dinner. Saw fit to show them that, since Marie had made half of dinner (or at least the bacon) for the four of us just hours beforehand.

So, shortly afterwards, Marie was showing Mom some pictures she had taken while she was in Silicon Valley, and Mom invited me to come look as well. Some of them included pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge, some Mexican food that they had eaten, and Marie sitting inside an alcove in a redwood tree. (About the second of those, Mom mentioned that back in 1974 or something, there were no Mexican restaurants, because it hadn't occurred to anyone that tacos or burritos would be as popular in America as they had become.)

Marie has gone back home this morning.
