Watched End of Evangelion yesterday morning on Veoh. Yeah, I've owned the complete Evangelion series on DVD for two and a half years, but in the morning, that option is out because that's usually the time of day that Dad watches TV before starting work. Jake told me that skipping all the way to that was a bad idea, for the sake of understanding the plot, but I never really intended to continue watching the main series from where I left off.

Actually, the reason I started watching End in the first place was because of the action that ensues in the beginning, which involves spoilers )

As long as we're on the topic of Evangelion, though, even though I didn't watch much of the series, I seem to have perceived some similarities between that series and the Earthbound (AU) fic E Revolution. Even though fighters there use psychokinetic powers instead of piloting giant mechas, some of the concepts are still similar. For example, a force known as Giygas is responsible for destroying things (just like the Angels), Ness is recruited into a place called SANCTUARY after his home city is ravaged (Shinji's recruit to NERV, anyone?), there is talk about a "revolution" (likely the equivalent to the Third Impact), a military organization called DREAMERS exists to fight both Giygas and SANCTUARY (equivalently to Seele), and, the ending... well, just read it and find out for yourself.

Worth mentioning, because E Revolution was, in turn, the direct inspiration for the third fic in Monster Collection Chronicles, which takes place primarily in a compound known as Spacequarters (when the Knights aren't on missions, of course) 100 years into the future.

Marie called Mom's cell phone last night, and told her about what I did in Patchogue the day before. Mom and Dad then warned me never to accept requests from anyone on the streets who randomly approaches me. Dad told me that Patchogue is full of folks waiting for a sucker to come along to take advantage of. I'll keep that in mind from now on.

A few things she also had to correct me on about my blog, was Jeremy's name (which I spelt as "Jerome"), and that Dad didn't have an operation so much as a checkup. She told me that Marie also made the same mistake before she corrected her. That's pretty funny, but what's even more of a coincidence is that Jake actually did have one last Saturday.

(Seeing how unlikely it would have been brought up again, I accidentally insulted him when I asked him how his drawing class was going, he said he hadn't gone since last time, and I commented that he probably didn't enjoy it so much. He then said it's only on Saturdays, which was when he had the aforementioned operation, but until then, I kinda assumed that he'd have been taking the class on weekdays. So yeah, it was just a misunderstanding.)

Finally, Mom asked me last night if I'd pull my blog up to minimize for her. She read some of my most recent entries, and asked if I use a different userpic (upon seeing Natsuki's pic). I explained to her that each of my userpics (save Mai, I should note) denote different concepts. I did tell her that I'd link to the entry where I described each of them, but on second thought, seeing as some of that entry is outdated, I think I might as well create a more up-to-date list instead. (Should probably get its own entry, seeing how long this one already is.)

What do you get when you take the first syllable out of "happiness"?

Here's a list of each of my userpics, what they represent, and where they appear. Just like I promised an entry ago:

My default avatar. This character is Mai Tsurugino, from the cover art for Makeruna! Makendou Z.

James Rolfe, a.k.a. the Angry Video Game Nerd, towards the end of his Sega 32X video (8-minute mark; can't link directly to it). Used usually when I'm talking about technical aspects or background of video games, but might also be used when I'm talking about the AVGN series.

Beginner, from Mon Colle Knights. Not sure exactly which episode this shot is from; Chelle gave it to me, along with four other pics, to use on DeviantArt before starting Rokumon Tengai. Used when I've got something to be happy or excited about.

Kagami, smiling cutely while eating her first bite at a cake buffet during episode 9 of Lucky Star. Usually used when food is involved, but also sometimes when I'm talking about the series itself.

Blue (renamed "Ellen" by Jake), from the Pokemon Special manga. This is actually fanart from Pokesho, and is used mainly when I'm either talking about fanservice (beyond just bikini girls) or anything related to Pokemon.

Kagami again, from episode 10 of Lucky Star. Used whenever something annoys me that I write about.

Link, right at the beginning of the first cutscene of Link: Faces of Evil. Used whenever I'm bored.

Makenro, from Makeruna! Makendou Z. Used when I'm talking about fanservice (most likely in the form of girls wearing bikinis where not appropriate).

Makoto from Getter Love!! Used whenever I'm outright pissed off about something to the point where Kagami just won't cut it. (Chose her in particular because of a certain dispute that took place just half a week after the supposed-to-be-epic Getter Love!! era ended. That's the only way one could possibly do justice for that whole fiasco.)

Fanart of Mikuru from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Used whenever I talk about anything involving embarrassment of certain characters. (If I ever humiliate myself, I probably won't bother even writing about it, and if someone else humiliates me, I'd more likely use Makoto's pic.)

Natsuki's beach scene from Getter Love!! Would be used whenever I talk about anything involving bikini girls (in appropriate situations, unlike with Makenro).

Nayuki, from episode 6 of Kanon. Used whenever I'm exhausted.

Sugar, towards the end of episode 6 of A Little Snow Fairy Sugar. Was only used once so far, but would likely be used to represent touching moments (real life or fictional), tinies (if when I ever talk about those), or just cuteness in general.

Tycho, one of the two main characters from Penny Arcade. Pic taken from part 4 of a particular four-part strip sequence. Can represent various things, such as horror, snark, video games, PA itself, or anything related to PA.

Cloaked in Twilight
Hot Dogs
The Obliterator
He Who Fights With Nerds

Vivienne (left), Silk (center), and Tsubomi (right) from Ultimate Girls, all in their Ultimate forms. Reserved for when I talk about giantesses. (I can tell that this is some kind of easter egg, because while it looks official, only one of the girls can actually transform at a time.)
