Today is Grandma Barbara's 80th birthday, and Mom and Dad have told me about our plans to visit her next month to celebrate it. Even though we're not gonna be able to visit her today, Mom did tell me to email her a birthday e-card last night. I asked her if she could help me find one, and she instead told me that if I could find a Japanese game from "1970" online so easily as I could, I could just as easily find a birthday card on my own. I told her that the several games I own imported from Japan are actually from the late 90's, but she told me that I don't have to be so literal, and that she actually meant to exaggerate.

(For the record, I do understand that video games do date back even further than the Magnavox Odyssey (1972) and all your Pong consoles, but most people don't know or care about such games as those.)

She then told me that the games reference stems from Brian asking her if it would be possible to find EcoQuest anywhere online, to which she responded that I could find practically anything online if I wanted to. Though to be honest, there are exceptions, an obvious one having been until two years ago the Makeruna! Makendou OAV. There are some games for which no information exists anywhere online as far as I know, such as Cro (or whatever it's full title is; it involves maneuvering a smiley face through a maze where you encounter a swarm of deadly red things just three screens in).

(EcoQuest... Yeah, I remember that game. The point-and-click game where you travel with a dolphin and fix various environmental problems in the ocean. I was in 3rd grade at the time, and wrote a written version of the game during class for some number of days (my own choice, not an actual assignment), which I let Mrs. Edis (my teacher at the time) keep after finishing it. I also remember watching Brian play the sequel, though I don't remember having played that one as much myself.)
