Dec. 10th, 2011 05:40 amTwo nights ago, Dad called Mom near the computer to show her something. Not sure what he was showing her, but along the way, he mentioned Gmail only loading newly received messages each time he logs in (even clicking Refresh doesn't work, as he only receives some kind of error message), and him having to sign out of my regular email to log back in, and it's been going on for months at this point. They discussed this issue, and it escalated into some kind of argument that he shouldn't have to keep logging back in.
I told them that what's going on is two things:
1) For whatever reason, YouTube requires me to log in under my email address. For this reason, more often than not, when I access it, it opens up under Dad's account, even though Mom claims that they haven't used it in years. I sign out and sign in under my regular email address, so that nothing that I look at winds up in their history, because I wouldn't want anything they look at appearing in my viewing history.
2) Cameron has pretty much demanded that I start using my Gmail account (which I hardly ever use otherwise) if I wish to stay in touch with him and his friend Seth. This doubles as a coincidence, because previously, I didn't see any real reason to have to check that when I could receive all mail I get in my regular inbox, and got frustrated with him when he made such a demand. But then again, he had been translating text from Makeruna! Makendou Z for free anyway, so I guess I really should have cut him a break. Not to mention that Chelle claims that one of her emails bounced back during an exchange she and I have been having, though this is only the first time I know of that this has happened.
In any case, we have decided together that I should only check Gmail on my laptop (which I don't go online through as often, though still frequently enough). As for Dad's emails never loading mid-session, I did try looking for an option to fix that, but no such luck.
