Witnessed a traffic collision near Station Road while I was having a walk down Long Island Avenue yesterday. This car making a turn off from there hit someone riding a bicycle, but the cyclist wasn't seriously injured. He dropped a box of granola bars, his cell phone, and a cigarette lighter, and the front wheel of his bike was bent. I gathered up the granola bars and the phone, to return to him along with the bike, but didn't notice the lighter until he found and went to pick it up himself.

I waited with him and the driver for the police to arrive. While we were waiting, two ladies stopped by at separate moments, claiming to be nurses and offering help, but the cyclist declined. It eventually occurred to me to give Mom a call, and she stopped by on the way home from the gym shortly before the police arrived.

The first officer to arrive gave me a form to fill out after speaking with the other two men, and Mom and I sat in our car so that she could guide me on how to fill out the report. Drove the rest of the way home after submitting it.

(Six years ago, the writing portion of my Driver's Ed course involved finding a total of sixteen articles about traffic collisions to write about. If what had happened right in my presence yesterday had taken place back then, I probably would've been more than happy to include that one.)
