Ran a whole bunch of errands with Mom yesterday. First, to Sears, to pick up two humidifier filters. Then, to Best Market. Not much to note there; just picked up some fruits and other stuff. Then, to Costco and the Savers store near there. I decided to have lunch at Costco, and got myself a turkey provolone sandwich and a bottle of Sprite.

Then, to the bank, although Mom almost forgot about it. I reminded her when we passed the hotel that normally marks the point to get off the Long Island Expressway to go there. She had to get off, and we passed through some neighborhood, and saw a large statue of a pig on someone's front lawn.

Managed to save a total of $58.44. Not sure why bankers aren't allowed to combine change receipts and cash into one deposit, though.

And finally, to Target, to get a few things for Dad. Not much to note there.

Not sure about Chelle, but I spoke to Jake later on, and he said that he wasn't able to even read my blog entry for the day due to the state of his Internet connection. I did ask him to share whatever thoughts he might have upon reading it whenever he is able to.

Finally started reading Pokemon Johto: The Funne Version!!!, one of Jake's fics that he told me about years ago. Mainly, there's the fact which he mentioned in his blog, that Kenta still only has one badge so far even though the fic has reached over 50 chapters long (and I'm pretty sure it isn't anything like the anime, which consists mostly of self-contained plots for each episode). Want to get an idea of what that fic's like before I continue with Starbound.

So this morning, I'm all ready to start over with Angry Birds once and for all since Thanksgiving last year. I open the game, and it gives me an option to either play it or download the full version. The latter option requires an activation code, which I had no reason to assume I would still need after entering it when I first bought the game. So, I buy a new copy of all three games I have, along with the remaining three in the main lineup, and good thing that Rovio is currently offering three games for the price of two. Compared to any other time, that would mean that I've paid twice for only one game with the total amount I've paid to date.

So, I open up the game, and I get some kind of error message that turns out to be unfixable even with Brian's help. Since this doesn't happen with any of the other games, it would be easy to conclude that it's because I copied that particular game from our main computer (which runs on Windows Vista) onto my own (Windows 7). According to Brian, though, things are much more complicated than that, too much to be explained within a reasonable amount of time.

So, I waited this whole year to play the damn games, because our main computer isn't up to speed, and because I didn't want to pay for the same games twice (which I've just ended up doing today anyway). The only reason I played the first three games on our main computer originally because Brian seemed to have fixed it once and for all the previous summer, but it started lagging again; played Angry Birds Seasons and Rio a few months later, because I was working on that Lucky Star spritesheet, driving myself nuts by not having a break between individual sprites (as opposed to between entire sets) while Marie and Grandpa Bob were here, and with Grandpa occupying my room, our computer was all I really had access to with which to unwind. If I had known things were gonna turn out like this, I would most definitely have just paid for the Macintosh versions of the same games I previously bought... or, somehow, maybe I didn't know there even were Mac versions of them in the first place. (Either way, good thing I didn't, given what happened to my laptop on a particularly critical day not too long ago.)

Getting my laptop repaired is gonna cost $165 plus tax, according to Mom after she recently got it diagnosed. Right now, Brian and Mom can't afford it; I have almost $250 in the bank right now, but they pretty much talked me out of paying for it myself, in case there's anything I'd like even more later on, but did say that it might be an option around the holidays. Fine, if they're willing to pay for something like that for me anytime even remotely soon. Then, what I've got in the bank and in PayPal, plus what Dad has promised me for moving our firewood pile closer to the house and stacking some new loads of wood we'll be getting soon, plus whatever I'll make for Christmas this year, can go towards a genuine copy of Windows 7, and maybe a new game console for which to buy some nice, anime-style RPGs.

Anyway, Mom did take me to Savers at some point, and let me hop over to GameStop. Dug through the used Nintendo DS games there, and used Mom's debit card (didn't have my wallet on me) to buy Legacy of Ys: Books I & II and Blue Dragon Plus. At least that gives me something to do while I'm having a break from writing, but not only am I planning to get started with either game tomorrow morning when I'm most ready to get started with any given thing, but I still can't help but feel that life just fucking mocked me this whole time regarding Angry fucking Birds. Really, I seriously considered just telling Mom that there is no point having money in the first place if one's just gonna hang onto it out of fear that something better might come along later, especially since I'm not the one supporting this household, and especially since getting that Macbook fixed up is gonna matter either way, gaming issue or none, and is more important than artwork commissions or Windows 7.

(So far, I have already sent an email to Rovio contact support first thing this morning, and have brought the issue up on Yahoo Answers not too long ago. Still waiting to hear back from either.)
