Worked with Dad for his friend Francis "FX" McInerny today. Right now, the two of them and several others are building a deck for his neighbors, and I was in charge of moving things like planks, logs, cinderblocks, garbage, and palettes.

Barring some amount of time I spent resting (about less than an hour all added up), Dad and everyone else say that I did a really good job. I only got paid $20 at the end of the day, though, but FX did say that the pay will increase as I go along. I also did speak to Mom about that later on, and we concluded that there are still other benefits to reap by continuing my part in the project.

I did say a year ago that I didn't spend five and a half years going to college to be doing a trade, but realistically, it's not like I have any real career plan of my own. Mom did recently speak to VESID about hiring a different job agency from DDI (they were the ones who referred me to both UCP and CENY, not VESID), but even before that, I've been still at a loss on how to go about seeking work. In fact, even Dad has pretty much admitted thinking when he first started out that this kind of work wasn't for him, and said that one could surprise himself at what he can really do on end.

Right now, Dad is not feeling too great, due to having worked a sweaty, dehydrating, tiresome job, combined both with Marie and Grandma having just left after such a good time we had and with the lasting aftereffects of cancer treatment. Mom says that if his mood keeps up for any real length of time, she might need me to spend some time in New Jersey until he gets better.
