Just ran a few errands today.

First, to the library. Along the way there, we spotted an orange-lined box turtle on the turns before Route 101. Mom almost ran it over, and I mentioned it right after we passed it. She pulled back and let me out to help it across the road.

At the library itself, Mom had some books to return, and I went over to King Kullen to deposit some recyclables. Being my first time depositing cans and bottles there, I had no idea that I'd be getting the change itself instead of receipts while I was at it. How convenient, for customers, the clerks, and the environment. We should do that exclusively at KK from now on, instead of at Target or Stop 'n' Shop.

Made a whole $1.45, which combined with 85 cents I brought from home into $2.30. Spent $2.00 of that on Numbers (two games). They did tell me when I asked that, while they can combine plays for other games onto a given ticket, they don't do that with 50/50 (known as Straight/BoxPlay on the lottery website). Would've originally spent $5 in singles on either that or a twice-a-week game, having rolled a cubic 6 the other day, so having deposited those cans and bottles saved me a little bit there.

(That particular game ends twice a day, once at noon and the other in the evening. Didn't win, but more importantly, I did ask for QuickPicks. Turned out when I checked later that both slips had the same numbers, the second set which was entered manually. From now on, I should ask those in charge to QuickPick all my plays when I spend more than $1 on this.)

Mom also had some shopping to do at the store, and I met up with her after receiving my tickets. The two of us went home after finishing up, and then went to Weight Watchers (she offered to bring me there). Only she actually went in there; I went there to buy lunch at Bagel Lovers. She met up with me while I was still eating, and on the way out, I donated 80 cents (50 of which was received back during my order) to two people raising Memorial Day funds, and they gave me a paper rose which we tied to our car's rear view mirror.

I had already asked Mom to stop at the bank on the way home. She stopped at the McDonald's next door to buy lunch for herself, and I went over to the bank to deposit $43 I had left over. Having donated all my change prior was also a good thing, so that I wouldn't have to make a separate deposit just for that.

(Mom did suggest the rest of the way home while I talked with her about banking and money in general, that I keep stuff about money private. Well, yeah, I probably won't talk about large sums such as what Grandma wrote me on Thanksgiving, and if I ever win the lottery, I will mention it only in a privatized entry, even if I do share some of it with my family and friends. This, however, should not be such a big deal, and it does feel good, so yeah.)
