Having a break from writing the lemon for now. Showed Jake yesterday what I've already written, which stopped with the beginning of a scene of Minami as a dominatrix about to punish Mondo, but that scene is probably not gonna go through. Judging by his reaction, Jake did not really care for a certain line of Mondo's that would eventually lead up to that, with which he suggests unleashing his sadistic side and brutalizing Yutaka (which would then take place inside a time-frozen version of where they are, courtesy of Maria, and would only be imaginary while feeling real; the actual scene was cut from what I sent him).

When I come back to it, I'm probably gonna go back, retcon the line in question and everything afterwards, wrap things up with a scene between Mondo and Rokuna, and then go back further and write up the events leading up to the orgy as a whole. Probably not gonna be very elaborate, because Chelle did talk me out of writing out Yutaka's birthday party (during which the fic takes place) in general until we cross that bridge when I brought the idea up with her. (Originally, I was gonna set the fic during chapter 5, when everyone is gathered at Rokuna's house, but Jake did request that I write something afterwards to include DavĂ, so I figured that that might as well just happen the first time around.)

In the meantime, I've decided to make a list of soundtrack notes for the Lucky Star anime. After listening to this playlist on YouTube, noticing that various songs were missing, and then noticing the same on what this site called The Hylia had to offer, I decided to see which songs never were released on any soundtrack CDs. So far, I've managed to find this piano song in episode 3, the shakuhachi solo that plays at the summer festival (episode 5), and an acoustic version of Fun Fun Fun da yo.

So what led me to this of all things? Well, to begin with, I did indiciate this "Mexican" song that plays during episodes 6 and 15, when I was writing the game script, to play when everyone has dinner at Rokuna's house (first two scenes of chapter 5 in the fic).

More recently, though, Jake showed me a demo of some Ed Edd 'n' Eddy RPG that he's been actually working on, where he had mentioned aiming for the original flavor of the cartoon series. It dawned on me that I should probably do the same to at least some extent with my own game, instead of just stuff that appeals to me personally. (I already mentioned under this pic (of Rokuna) that an actual anime adaptation of Starbound would kick ass, and while Full-Motion Video scenes (at least of the opening and ending sequences) are probably the closest I'll ever come to that, I'd sure as hell ask whoever I commission to use tracks and gimmicks from the Lucky Star anime for those.)

And, just the other day, it occurred to me that this song (which tends to cut off or fizzle out less than half a minute in) would go perfectly with the scene where Miyuki's hair gets done up in the school hallway and she flees the attention she receives. Come to think of it, the scene where Rokuna and Mondo show off their swimsuits in chapter 5 would also be compatible, and the song could cut off when the latter curls up in embarrassment.

In any case, music as a whole is a whole other issue unto itself, but in general, most of the audio and visuals to be showcased during regular cutscenes or gameplay will not be the same kind of moe flavor that the Lucky Star anime is known for (save for, say, expressions in mugshots). That's exactly where FMV scenes will come in, if I can raise enough funds for those after figuring out how much the two aforementioned will cost first (which is probably a lot more than any still image).
