Mar. 22nd, 2015 08:33 amBeen playing Kiratto Kaiketsu while having a break from my agenda for the past few days. Considering how much longer a round of that can be than of Getter Love!! (and I do not alternate between games during a given break from other stuff), I was up till 11 two nights ago just to complete one, and had gone to bed just shortly before Brian and Marie arrived.
Thought that one would be my last round for the time being, since I've had stuff to bring up with Brian. Changed my mind yesterday morning, because everyone else was still asleep, and I didn't want to wake Brian or Marie up by pacing around inside the house. (Couldn't go outside either, due to snow on the ground.) Got started with what could have been one of my shorter rounds (only four rooms), only for Mom to wake up early on and suggest I come to the gym with her and Dad. (That possibility had slipped my mind, but even if I had remembered, they sometimes do their workouts much later in the day or even have a day off altogether, even on weekends.)
At this point, since Brian and Marie are still here until 5 today, I've decided that I might play another round or two today, and then start refocusing tomorrow on what needs to get done.
-----
Went with Brian and Marie to eat lunch at Moe's, since I've had a pair of coupons for that. We ended up getting there just a few minutes before they opened, and were thus the first few customers for the day.
Both coupons were only valid for separate purchases, so me and Brian let Marie order ahead of us. The two of us then each ordered a chicken club quesadilla, and also got some nachos on the side.
Soon as I joined Brian and Marie, I told them about three different instances in Lucky Star fanfiction involving Mexican food. First, was in this story called Lucky Heists, in which Miyuki had vomited from a burrito she ordered somewhere (all offpage), and Kagami mistakes said burrito for a taco while telling Matsuri about her night out in general. Second is from one of Blood's old works, I Was Kagami Hiiragi (still have my own copy), in which Kagami brings Misao home with her from a party at 2 A.M., both of them drunk, and they accidentally retrieve a box of frozen burritos while helping themselves to some ice cream. And finally, my own fanfic Starbound, in which the mains' friends all spend a night at Rokuna's house to commemorate the beginning of their adventure, and Rokuna's prepare various Mexican delicacies for dinner.
During our time there, Brian also suggested we play Snowboard Kids together at some point. I told him that I already sold both games and various others, but offered to buy a new copy. He said that he simply forgot, and that he doesn't really have time in general for video games anymore, and Marie said she doesn't even have a TV set (or was that also Brian?). I told them I recall seeing a Nintendo 64 hooked up in the living room of Marie's apartment, to the same TV as that PS3, but come to think of it, Mom did tell me that they are both moving somewhere else right now.
-----
Stopped at the bank on the way home, where I deposited two checks courtesy of both our grandmothers, along with $45.75 more worth of cash.
Brian and I both had a nap upon coming home. His was much longer, but Marie went out shopping with Mom in Riverhead right after I woke up. I then decided to play myself a round of Kiratto Kaiketsu. Mom and Marie came home late during said round, and Marie asked me to show her those three scenes (as I had offered during lunch), and I suggested we wait till Brian wakes up. He did just a few minutes later, coinciding with an intermission, and I showed them all three scenes, along with the beachhouse dinner scene in episode 6 of the anime (7:15*), mainly for the song that plays while everyone rambles on about the food they've been served. (Showed them the actual scene, just to show that, yes, it actually plays in the anime, even though there's nothing Mexican about what they're eating, (or for that matter, about class rosters in episode 15), nor are they in Mexico or even anywhere outside their home country.)
(*Link is to CloudAnime.net. Most YouTube versions at this point have been removed, and the version that has the scene in one piece is rather fuzzy.)
Showed Brian two bits of the manga afterwards, on which the very first scene in Starbound is based, since I forgot to mention that during my time at his place. Also set his laptop up with the fic itself, so that he could re-read that one scene.
-----
Later showed Brian an entire passage I had written the other day about the concept of appreciation. He had a lot to say, so much that our discussion on the subject had to be cut in two parts when Mom finished making dinner, and that it would be more practical to give the piece itself and any stuff surrounding each point its own entry, rather than to post it all here.

For my birthday this year, Mom had gotten an assortment of cupcakes and pettifores, rather than a cake. Had a few of them, but I tend not to care for those all that much. I was actually anticipating stuff like canoles and eclairs, but Mom said that she left it up to the proprietor to choose, and that's what they filled the box with. Not a big deal, but next year, I'll be sure to pick out a cake myself, based on my watch digits.
I actually did say that last thing, and Marie asked what that has to do with anything. I told her that I read the right second digit off my watch whenever I need to decide on something quickly (or whenever dice would be otherwise impractical).
Anyway, Brian and Marie gave me $60 in cash, and Mom bought me season 1 of Haganai. (Yes, it turns out that I had watched that show's second season last summer, which should have been obvious from "Next".) That latter thing is actually something I had Mom buy me on Ebay several weeks ago, and the seller accidentally sent their Blu-ray version. Mom had me type a complaint to him. He offered to buy it back, despite saying on the page that he doesn't offer refunds, but then it turned out that my DVD player actually can read Blu-ray anyway. Mom and I then agreed for her to present it to me when we actually celebrate my birthday w/ Brian and Marie around.

Noticed this morning that Marie has worked on that puzzle that Mom keeps urging me to work on, and has made more progress on it than both of us combined. And to think, that she's the one who got it for us for Christmas.
-----
And, all that's left before Brian and Marie go back, is to look at something w/ Brian that I compiled and emailed to him, Jake, and Chelle. He told me over the phone the other day, that he had gotten it at a bad time, and then forgot about it before speaking with me.
Basically, a list of songs from different video games that I would apply to Day of the Beehive, along with comparisons to songs canon to the Earthbound trilogy that would play in equivalent situations. For example, listen to these remastered versions* of Onett, Twoson, post-zombie Threed, and Fourside. And, for stuff directly from other games, check out these potential battle themes from Rockman 3 Complete Works (Shadow Man's theme), Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories (the Free Duel theme), Advanced Variable Geo 2 (Kaori's theme), and Vanguard Princess (the Highway stage), all for the Playstation (except for that last one, for Windows). Notice how much more spectacular they all sound than anything canon to Earthbound or Mother 3. (Want more? Just ask!)
(*In case the clip ever gets deleted, I did manage to save it and some other songs to my laptop.)
