Jan. 16th, 2016 06:19 amDeleting yesterday's entry (only hours after posting) was a mistake. I did so because I had remembered afterwards that Mom owed me some money for wiping some windows down last week, and Dad will too once I stack up a new load of firewood that we have just received yesterday; the combined payments could warrant another trip to the bank, but it could just as easily wait until I get some more money for my birthday coming up.
Long story short, Mom found me a plastic Starbucks cup to keep all my coins in from now on, and I won't be needing rolls anymore. I honestly thought after we returned that broken coin sorter to Savers, that those things might be useful, but really, they only made things more complicated for me than when I was keeping all my change in my piggybank, in ways involving index cards, tallies, and trying to keep all sets intact and mutually exclusive.
This issue would not have come up, however, if I hadn't been stupid enough last month to combine my combined value of pennies and nickels at the time for a WIN4 ticket and spend most of my quarters at Starbucks. I honestly don't remember why I did that, especially since I was already expecting to hit the bank (even earlier after Brian suggested I not come with him and Marie to Boston), which Mom and I took care of on the 6th just ten days ago, and especially since I wasn't otherwise playing the lottery after rolling an 8. My quarter roll would've been maxed out, and I'd just have to dig through the jar for nickels and dimes after getting whatever I could in exchange for cans and bottles at Stop 'n' Shop. (On the other hand, I did notice three dimes mixed with my pennies when they spilt out in my pocket before I bought that ticket. So, there's a literal silver lining there.)
Next game planned is bi-weekly, depending on what day I go somewhere without also hitting the gym. Originally, after having rolled a 1, I was planning to spend a perfect $3 that my dimes have reached on a PowerBall ticket at Stop 'n' Shop after our gym session this morning. One of the few times I'd buy a lotto ticket in tandem with the gym, because rolls fit more easily into my sweatpants pocket even when empty than into jeans. That's what I brought up with Mom last night, that led to her finding that cup to replace all those rolls I still have.
With that all out of the way, I will pay in cash as usual instead whenever the opportunity comes up.
As for that gift card, after a similar situation already arose three years ago, I might spend that on volume 3 of Puella Magi Suzune Magica, which is due out late next May (two months after my birthday but seven before Christmas next year; nothing else is scheduled for release yet), if I don't buy something else with it first. But then again, I never actually expected to hit the Smithhaven Mall last summer, and I would have otherwise awaited what I bought that time for Christmas instead. I still do plan on buying a lotto ticket with that, though, once I have too miniscule an amount left on it to buy anything worthwhile with it, although I won't make an actual point of buying one ASAP any more than I do with cash.
