A tree collapsed the other day onto the wooden fence separating our house from the Bernackis' from its other side. Chester came over and chopped it all up, and left us some log segments to chop up next spring.

-----

Yesterday was National Pancake Day, and I made up some pancake batter upon waking up. Mom guided me upon waking up shortly after, and I had two before she and Dad had the rest.

For dinner, Mom made potato pancakes (my suggestion), a hamsteak (half each for me and Dad), and some sautéed red pepper slices (which I cut up), along with some apple sauce from actual apples that she cut up and processed with which to spread over the first of those.

-----

Had a total of three bags of cans for Stop 'n' Shop. Brought them there yesterday afternoon while Mom did some shopping, and found out that you can only put in up to $6 worth of recycling into any one machine there before receiving a ticket automatically. What I had left over yielded 65 cents more, 50 of which I spent (instead of a whole dollar for the first time) on a lottery ticket.

The game in question was Numbers, and I've just noticed on the slip that winnings will increase by 20% for each ticket bought on a Tuesday this month. Incidentally, I had determined just yesterday that the next game will be a Pair Play of the same game, so I might just get one next week if I have actual errands to run and don't play anything beforehand.

I'm aware that that's what those running the lottery want you to do; that's the whole point of promotions in general, and it's safe to assume that they run them all the time. Currently, QuickDraw is having its own, in which any winning tickets bought between either noon and 1 PM or 5 and 7 PM on a Thursday will yield a 50% bonus.

http://nylottery.ny.gov/ (Promotions are tabbed once you click your game of choice, whenever any are actually going on for that game.)

(If anything, I might check for promotions for my next game of choice each time I win anything, and then redeem my ticket at 7-Eleven during their specified periods. Other than that, whichever game I decide on would still be determined with a die roll, and I don't want to stress myself out over lottery promotions.)

-----

Anyway, now I know how much of any given type of recycling to stockpile from now on before bringing it all in.

I've also got a small bag of bottles to go to Costco soon. I found them in a shopping cart in the parking lot the other day, and would assume someone left them there because Stop 'n' Shop doesn't take them.
