Mar. 9th, 2016 06:32 amJake has told me several things to clear up about yesterday's review.
First of all, Strife, rather than being someone working for Steven DiDuro, is actually DiDuro himself under his username. Second, he and Zerodius are not on talking terms anymore, so it's up to me to try to contact him myself about anything. And finally, Zerodius is the one creating that RPG I mentioned, independently from Strife.

Brian came home several hours early yesterday, and asked me to save chapter 1 of Starbound to my flash drive and as a .txt file. Copied the chapter from deviantArt, and took some time to proofread it halfway through before adding both a piece of Jake's version from The Fanfiction Forum (when Miyuki arrives at the twins' house, and I also added an extra line by Inori in) and a note regarding Rokuna's outfit* when the others meet her in the woods.
We headed over to a FedEx printing center, and Brian set me up with a computer. The .txt file opened up in NotePad as a giant block of text when I selected it, and so I opened it up instead in WordPad. While it did look a lot more presentable there, there were still all these weird characters throughout the file between sentences and where there are supposed to be ellipses. It took me a total of twelve minutes to fix most of them up, but I did make some wording and formatting edits along the way as well. (Will take some time today while Brian's at work, to continue fixing up the file, since at this point I might as well apply my new edits to both of the online versions of the fic.)
Originally, I was planning on printing twelve copies of the file (after Brian previously suggested ten and then five at different points), but that ran my charges up to over $112, so I decided on four (based on the Chosen Four of Earthbound and the core characters of the Lucky Star franchise). Brian then spoke with an employee about this whole thing, and he agreed to remove what I'd normally be paying for the time we had just spent using the computer itself.
Good thing, especially since FedEx still supports Autism Speaks. I'll be sure to print copies of subsequent chapters and Birthday of Destiny when I'm back home. They're mainly for someone Brian would like me to meet but won't be available until Thursday (we've postponed my return home specifically for that reason, and I already filled Mom in on that) and anyone else interested (Devon asked me later on for one of my copies, and gave me some kind of business card in return).
(*For those of you who don't know, what she is described wearing is what she normally wears at the beginning of each episode of Mon Colle Knights, before Ichirobei summons her and Mondo to head somewhere in Rokumon Sekai. At this point, I have decided that this should instead be her summer school uniform, while her winter uniform look something like what she initially wears in the manga (gonna need to ask Chelle for a shot of that). What she normally wears in Rokumon Sekai is also out of the question, since she was explicitly embarrassed about that in the first episode (due to cultural reasons involving the color that Chelle had to explain to me, although the manga (at least in English) has her more concerned about the skirt being too short). There was a different outfit that Chelle thought up for her, but that was only for an idea of one of her presents in Birthday of Destiny when I decided to write that, hence why it's never mentioned in the main story, and I don't think she'd wear something that new into the woods where it would obviously get ruined (at least before learning that PK Healing also reverses damage done to its recipient's clothes and anything they're carrying as well as actual wounds). So, considering that I didn't even describe what Konata had put on back at her house, I might excise the description of Rokuna's outfit altogether, and leave it to anyone interested to design an alternate one to the aforementioned pink dress that she'll be wearing most of the time.)

There were several other stops we had to make before getting my file printed, and along the way there, we also saw someone wearing a teddy bear mask and jamming on a keytar (John said later that his performance is actually fake), something Brian suggested I apply to Starbound at some point.
Ate dinner at this bar called The Point after we finished business. I had some kind of burger, and thus asked if we could get ice cream somewhere. Brian suggested we pick some up at CVS after visiting Marie.
During the ride back from where we went, Brian filled the time in by re-reading the chapter, obviously since we had copies on hand and nothing else to do at the moment. I, meanwhile, noticed this olive-skinned couple across from us, and the man was wearing a shirt depicting this old-fashioned anime couple. I asked him what the show in question was, and Brian reigned me back in before speaking to him for me. Apparently, the show is called Supreme (just tried Googling it, but other stuff comes up instead), and I in turn held up my Lucky Star DVD case (which I brought to share with the person we were initially expecting to meet up with) next time I saw him facing our general direction in case he'd be interested in checking that out (he replied with a thumb up).
Soon as we left the subway, the two of us headed to Marie's apartment (no one answered the door after five or six rings), but Brian said he'd have to go back to the apartment to change into something warmer before we go shopping. Should've known something was up, because Marie told me during our time at GrassFed that she wouldn't be able to see me after that point, and Brian's place was already closer to us than hers, plus we continued in the same direction from which we arrived at the apartment.
We made our way to an intersection at which to cross to get to the store, and he told me that was his plan the whole time.
Bought a tub of mint chocolate chip while Brian got some other stuff with which to make milkshakes. While he did make some for himself and Quinn later on, I ended up just having a bowl of regular ice cream beforehand while waiting for him while he was resting up from everything. I even passed some of the time leading up to that by listening to something on YouTube, and I also wanted to free him up so we could talk about stuff, but he ended up chatting with John and Quinn about various things instead (I joined in briefly, and we mentioned Starbound, Lucky Star, the Earthbound trilogy, and JRPGs in general), and we agreed to let him show me the process tonight instead when I'm more awake.

Brian has somehow reversed the colors of everything on his laptop screen. Will have to ask him how he managed to pull that off of all things.
