Colleen took a copy of the Starbound chapter yesterday morning, before coming with me and Brian to the way to his job.

-----

Yesterday was the first whole day I have spent at Brian's workplace. Managed to keep myself busy enough, although that .txt copy of the Starbound chapter won't open in TextEdit and is missing the formatting edits I made to it in other programs. (Will try opening it in WordPad when I'm home.)

Explored North End briefly with Brian during a break late in his shift. Came across a cemetery with a view of the Charles River.

-----

That acquaintance of Brian's that was supposed to come meet us ended up not doing so. A friend of Devon's came over, and I greeted him under the assumption that he was the one we were expecting, but he told us that he actually didn't know any of us besides Devon and didn't know anything about the project.

Brian filled both me and him in on things, me about the situation regarding Simon Remiszewski and how unreliable he has proven so far to be regarding Day of the Beehive, and Devon's friend Pat about what the project itself, along with its parent works Earthbound and Lucky Star, all are. He showed Pat the trailer for Mother 4 and the opening sequence of LS, and he in turn shared a couple of sketchbooks of his with him.

Brian also showed me the trailer for this game called Hyper Light Drifter, which looks reminiscent of Out Of This World for the Super NES, and told me how the aesthetics of all these consoles of old have inspired indie gamers of today to attempt things that could have worked on the various machines they had all grown up with (albeit peripherally in cases such as mine).

During Pat's time here before he left, Brian and he engaged in a lengthy conversation about indie games, which I joined while waiting to watch an episode of Lucky Star with him. Along the way, Pat asked us if we ever played Undertale, which is inspired by Earthbound, and I told him that I read about it, but the premise didn't interest me that much, and that I've played both of creator Robert Fox's Earthbound ROMhacks from during his high school years. At some point, Pat also showed us footage of certain games on his iPhone, including Downwell and Demon Demon.

Pat had also shown enough interest in Starbound to take a copy of the chapter I printed up. Whether he'll be interested in the project itself is still up in the air, but now I have three people to email a link to the whole fic and peripheral material all simultaneously when I return home and upload Birthday of Destiny to deviantArt.

Watched episode 13 of Lucky Star with Brian after he left. He asked towards the end of the episode if the antics at Anime Tenchou was one of those "pockets" I described the other day, and I tried to show him that forum post of mine after the episode ended, but he said that he was about to burn out. It was already eleven at that point, but I'll try to show him this morning before we hit the train to Amtrak for my return home.

Meanwhile, I guess I'll head over to Robin Wood for one last time while he's still asleep. He did say that he needs a full eight hours of sleep in order to wake up most efficiently, so I've got another hour and a half to kill before I try to wake him up.
