Jul. 19th, 2016 06:40 amWent with Brian to the bagel place for lunch yesterday, and talked somewhat about Starbound on the way there and back. Got myself a Mutt (roast beef and melted mozzarella sub) along with a chocolate croissant and a vanilla Nesquik while we were there, and Brian also had me buy a sesame and poppy bagel to bring home for Dad. That sandwich was rather large and filling, and I ended up bringing half of it home, which Mom would later wrap up for Brian to take back to Boston with him.
The previous day coming home, some stuff about Earthbound music and the inspiration thereof came up when Johnny B. Goode played on the radio while Brian dialed around randomly (I mentioned it as the inspiration for Franky (known in Earthbound Zero as Hippie Battle). Some stuff came up about both of the Runaway Five numbers, one of which sounds similar to the Hanky Panky (something I actually first heard, sped up, in an episode of Boston Public), while the other sounds like The Changeling by The Doors. I showed Brian the former two songs, and he showed me the latter two and this Wikipedia page on the formers' musical pattern.
I then showed him the first of thirteen clips comprising skullkid3's playthrough of Arn's Winter Quest, and he went the extra mile and watched half the next one. Long story short, that game is already good material on its own to comprise Magicant for Starbound, and whatever everything in it could represent would be best left for others to speculate. It will be different enough from that game to avoid constituting plagiarism; for example, the initial setting will be based on Ancient Greece and will also contain a castle in which the Original Ones reside, Mr. Evil Nihco's maze will likely resemble the crystal caverns from Earthbound Zero, and the party will definitely encounter the eye enemies from EB0, three of which I have better names for (especially considering how simplistic enemy names in general were in that game, it being a Dragon Warrior clone and all).
With that, I think I should be ready to continue Starbound once and for all once I finish my current chapter of Parasitic Trio. Right now, though, only a few more days remain before I should be able to discuss PT with Jake again, and if Alice actually does get back to me with any Cibus-related ideas, I would prefer to start that once and for all afterwards, especially with Chelle still unavailable to critique stuff.

Three guys came over to dig our new cesspool yesterday. Mom told me and Brian while we were talking, and we came out to see what was going on while finishing our conversation.

Shortly before Brian left, I joined him and Dad to watch two episodes of this fake documentary series called Documentary Now! First was about this 1922 film called Kunuk the Hunter, and the second was about this '70s musical group called the Blue Jean Committee. (Asked Brian between episodes if he felt like watching Lucky Star, but he wasn't really up for it.)
