Out of boredom more than anything while I abstain from playing anything in preparation to come back to Parasitic Trio on Monday (I do not need to addict myself to yet another game), I started reading this Madoka fic called Toxic, which starts with Kyoko having just killed Mami herself, regretting it at first, but then deciding that her own survival is what really matters. Lost interest upon reaching the first boldfaced line, and lost the energy to bother reading anything else. Exactly why I wish to reboot Cibus Esculentus Madoka Magica in my own writing, which I would like to kick off by discussing how to go on about it with someone.

(I had also noticed this other fic called Madoka Meets Horror, which involves Madoka meeting all kinds of monsters. Premise sounds stupid, but since the author is looking for suggestions, I've just left a review this morning suggesting Esurientes, detailing what they're like and saying as little as possible about Cibi.)

Compared Mahjong Challenge offhand to Tiles of the Dragon for DOS while talking a little about it with Mom two nights ago. She told me how fond she used to be of that game, one of the first that she saw Aunt Marie play on her computer back in the mid-'90s. She mentioned that she liked everything about it, but more specifically cited all the little pictures on the tiles, which was also one of my favorite aspects of the game.

Looked into playing ToD online yesterday, and after a bit of trouble I had with DOSBox, I brought the issue at hand up with Jake (having sent him a certain other game a few years ago, even though DOS and floppy disks are both long since obsolete), who then relayed something to me that boils down to Chrome no longer being viable. Downloaded Firefox, and here it is:

With that, I think I might try out some other games from my childhood. The Oregon Trail is the one game Mom and Dad remember the most that I was obsessed with early in 3rd grade, and if that one's available, I could probably play it with a combination of dice and common sense, instead of reading letters from a wholesale catalog. Jason Storm in Space Chase 3 also comes to mind, something I also got during 3rd but somehow became unloadable just more than two years later.

Mom left a comment under where I mentioned my Savers purchase, consisting only of "Hmmmmm..." She brought up how I paid for that game, and somehow thought at the time that I had my own money on me and didn't even know that her wallet was in there. Nevermind that I make a point of leaving my money home from the gym most of the time, so as to keep my gambling impulses under control, plus she doesn't even have pockets and that bag is the only thing she has to keep her wallet, so I kinda put two and two together.

We agreed that that could count retroactively as my allowance for this week. Originally, I wasn't gonna ask her for last week's, but then she gave me that anyway, and I assumed she wouldn't have minded spending just a few dollars of her money, though I guess I could have at least asked first. (She still does owe me another $20 on top of $10 she already gave me for cleaning the basement pantry just recently, though, and did tell me that she gets paid on Wednesday and will have that money ready then.)

Went with Mom to Bellport in the afternoon to pick up some seaweed at the Great South Bay for her garden. On our way home, we spotted a place called Royal Oak Diner, which I confused with the place Uncle Robby took us just the other day (Red Oak Diner). Mom asked me if I remember when we went there with Grandma Barbara, but that must have been way back in my childhood, because I don't personally remember going there. The two of us agreed to eat out there one of these days to see if it rings a bell, and I think I might also ask Brian or Marie if they remember anything about that.
