Sep. 22nd, 2016 06:19 amManaged to watch the whole rest of the series up until just last night, often watching two or three episodes consecutively. This tells me a lot about my future of discussing things with Brian when compared to a measly three episodes of Lucky Star during the whole week I spent at his place half a year ago.
Having picked up on the similarities to Faust, Brian also showed me this episode of Rick & Morty, titled Something Ricked This Way, after we watched episode 8 yesterday morning.
The next step, when he comes over next month, will be to show him the entire current fic, along with my entry from March 28 and a lengthy author's note I added to my copy of The Loss of Innocence. Today, he needs to leave in several hours, and Mom's just been making bacon for us to all have for breakfast together. Once he reads the fic through, we're gonna need to discuss certain things about Esurientes, something I've recently tried to iron out with Alice but haven't heard any further from her about since she promised to put some thought into it.
For the record, I never really laid out any ground rules about Esurientes in general when I commissioned Christina and others, only that they eat flesh. However, while I did generally like how they turned out, there's still the issue of what happens to people they prey on, whether they disappear into an Esuriens' barrier or either runs in fear from or gets gored by something that anyone else present is unable to see. That's something I'd like to avoid while maintaining a world whose general population does not believe in Esurientes or magic. The barriers that Christina implemented, though, consist only of a version of the real world with less lighting; I would assume that was to keep things simpler than having to think of stuff resembling a Witch's barrier, although the anime's finale did depict Wraithes appearing in the real world instead of within pocket dimensions. Things get even more complicated when you consider that Cibi don't have to worry about material damage either they or Esurientes cause, since it's part of the Esurientes' barriers, and on the same token, the presence of cars still going by when Madoka fights a bird-like Esuriens and even witnesses said Esuriens seemingly diving for one (actually dying) on her way out of Mitakihara.
