Nov. 20th, 2017 04:51 amBrian had someone named Liza (lee-zuh) over yesterday. We were planning to go hiking, especially after it stopped raining halfway through the day, but they decided after chatting on the deck that it was too cold for that.
The two of them went to Ace to buy a chess set, since the one Brian had was missing a bunch of pieces. The one they got was completely white, so Brian and I watched Liza spraypaint one half black on the deck.
For dinner, we went to this bar-and-grill called Fire+Ice, where people are supposed to take what they want like at a buffet, and then give it to one of several people managing a grill before actually eating. I got some udon and rice noodles, and probably should've eaten both dry instead of adding yakitori sauce on top of the latter after finishing the former. Also made a point of having a sundae, although I'll probably try out this cheesecake dish that was on the menu next time.
We also stopped by this place called L.A. Burdick Chocolates. On the outset, some might say that stuff there is a bit overpriced, with a small box of assorted chocolates running up to $72 depending on the size, but then again, this isn't like a grocery store with plain packaged candy at the cash registers. I got myself some cute little chocolate penguins and mice to have today.
Liza parted with Brian to get ready to visit her parents for Thanksgiving while he awaited me outside during my transaction, before he and I went back to the apartment.
Can't wait to hit both those places again, either again this week or during any subsequent visits I pay here.
