Jan. 15th, 2018 05:35 amThings might just have taken a turn for the better after all.
Just hours after we agreed to call things off, it dawned on me that, just maybe, we actually could rekindle our relationship, since he cited a mutual lack of trust between us as our main obstacle to do so. I proposed that he play Makeruna! Makendou Z whenever he finally gets to do so, and then either write the Yoshi's Island fic or help me plan out my own story, and I'll stop bringing up Unwilling Service. He did get annoyed over me going back on my word for the second time so far, and asked how I intend to change, but I offered to also stop bringing up my fetishes or anything related to Lucky Star. (Obviously, that would rule out my second fic.)
We haven't actually agreed on anything yet, and he's gonna be out of town for more than a week before getting back to me. For the record, though, I barely have any reason left to ask what went wrong, provided he actually follow through with his end of the deal this next time. At most, I would probably re-send him a file I had recently sent him only years from now, when he's had enough time not to deal with Pokemon at all, and not even for the sake of getting him back; only for closure. By that point, I'll probably be so far ahead with that story that actually recruiting him back would be a moot point. Having hardwired the PokeWalker into the story also renders moot a possible essay I might have gotten out of him if I had played my cards right (that is, by withholding help of any kind until he'd give me that and not insulting him online).
(Admittedly, it still bothers me that he flatly refuses to specify any more than he did before about what he hated all along about the story, but for one thing, I can sorta understand how too much of a given thing tends to wear anyone out.)

Yesterday was the day Brian had planned to come over, not Saturday. He went right to bed after greeting us, but we did manage to watch those two parts of Madoka Magica and take a trip to Tanger Outlets.
The issue of Unwilling Service came up among other things, and he cleared up a misunderstanding of mine. When I had brought it up on Facebook last time, he must have misread what I asked and thought I was talking about the Cibus project, but as it turns out, it was that that he had offered to fund. However, I had also brought up something I've posted to Upwork, and he did agree at least to help me revise Team Galactic's strategy, something I understand was also quite different in the anime, to fit the circumstances of US, and to that end, I might just buy a new player's guide for Pokemon Platinum (he declined on the actual game or a recorded playthrough).
(It also helps that the one person who applied for that position had actually only ever played Red and Yellow. If he's willing to lend me some money to eventually be repaid, I might just send him my copy and guide of Crystal, just to let him familiarize himself first. Once we sort things out regarding Team Rocket's role in Johto, I might spend some of that money on Emerald to send him next (since he'll have to play that as well anyway) while paying him another part for his own use.)
