Jun. 7th, 2018 06:02 amWent with David to pick Mom up at the airport. Chatted with him mostly about anime, and I agreed to bring my DVD set of Utawarerumono next time I see him, since he said he's into fighting series but is only vaguely familiar with that one.
On the way back, he and Mom discussed things like food shopping. At one point, she commented that Trader Joe's has some of the best stuff available where we live, but I told them that, of some frozen box dinners I got for down here, this tortellini and the rice in this box of chicken basmati didn't have any flavor at all. Mom told me that curry rice is normally supposed to be mixed with the curry itself (supposedly to add texture or something), and she usually seasons rice that she cooks because I tend not to mix foods together. Funny; this whole time, I've been wondering what the point of having rice is if one mixes it with other stuff and drowns out the original flavor, but I guess that makes sense.
Anyway, it turns out that we're actually gonna be here until next Tuesday. Previously, I had misconstrued something Mom said before to mean this coming weekend, but both of us looked at a recent email exchange, and she actually said the 11th or 12th. I must have been thinking a week and a half, that being some ten days, but if I had figured things out correctly, I probably would have started playing Breath of the Wild for real after all once my Switch was done recharging. To do so now would just feel stressful, what with everything else that's been going on, such as chores that Mom asked me to do for Grandma; I don't know how long it will take to complete that game, and I'd still like to be ready to tuck into Earthbound Zero once we're back home.
Well, I still have ten more episodes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, part II left to watch, after having only watched two (separately) yesterday. Should probably see if I can watch the rest of that dubbed on Aunt Marie and Uncle Ray's TV set, along with part III: Stardust Crusaders, after Mom went on to suggest that, and then if I can get a refund on my Amazon purchase if it's anywhere else for free.
