Jan. 14th, 2021 08:07 amFrom what I gather, Marie is supposed to complain at some point about having too many mouths to feed. According to both my player's guide and multiple online sources, that is the point at which you can recruit Antonio. The guide marks it down to be after the three-month time-skip, but she still didn't say anything about needing a chef.
Trying to google whatever criteria needs to be fulfilled before she'll complain turned up inconsistent results, even on YouTube. I tried talking to her multiple times, alternating every now and then between resting and not resting, and then went over to Seika to see what Antonio actually says, only to recruit him anyway after he commented on Maria's migration to my army and stated wanting to move somewhere else.
From there, I can only conclude that either Marie already had complained and I missed it somehow, or what she says is merely a clue and you're actually free to recruit Antonio after her (which contradicts what the guide says when you can begin recruiting others after founding your headquarters).
Went on to edit his pages on both Suikoden Wikia and Gensopedia, and am going to post to Reddit as well. Either way, finding that out has officially killed my momentum with the game, and now would be a good time to switch back to my Cibus files. Mom has also found me an online course about cognitive behavioral therapy the other day that I need to enroll for before this month ends. Doesn't help that I've figured a few things out to try out when I start over, although it does help to have reached the Village of the Elves in just my first day this time, thanks to knowing the ropes up to that point from my previous playthrough.
