Aug. 17th, 2021 06:15 amTook up three transcription jobs on Rev these past few days.
Basically, you're supposed to score a certain percentage in all fields within 45 minutes worth of stuff to transcribe, or failing that, another 55 minutes to bring your grades up before your account is disabled forever.
While I managed almost perfectly in all other fields, I scored a 3 out of 5 for accuracy on my first gig. Understandable, and I took some time afterwards to read the site's style guide. The second one was a 5, bringing my overall grade to 4.0.
The third one I did felt rather easy, and I was so sure I'd ace it. Instead, I got another 3 for barely about seven wording mistakes, bringing my grade back down to 3.67.
Even though I did have a couple of hours left to have others look it over, while I might have felt otherwise about the first two jobs, I honestly don't think I should have to feel paranoid over every little thing I might get wrong.
At this point, fuck it. I still have another 30 minutes left to bring my grade back up, but at this rate, I doubt that's gonna make much of a difference. I thought by doing this, I might be able to unlock higher-paying jobs in order to keep up with my ROMhack commission budget, but if the ones grading me are gonna expect perfection, then I'm not gonna cling to what little hope I have to succeed. I decided against any further work even as a way to fill the rest of my day in before I (hopefully) tuck into Suikoden II this morning, because I don't need to be reminded how hard it's really gonna be at this point to bring my grade up to the required 4.5.

Brian had come to visit late two nights ago. He stayed for most of yesterday, but was here mainly to retrieve a kayak he once built and another small boat we used to sail when we were kids, and was busy for most of the time up until taking care of that yesterday afternoon.
