Nov. 22nd, 2021 04:34 amBrian and Emily came over late two nights ago. I went up to the apartment yesterday morning to let them know that Mom was making breakfast, Emily said she'd be down later, and Mom called me out on waking them up when I mentioned that to her. They came down when I was already having mine, and Brian thought Mom had sent me.
Went over with Brian what was going on with Unity after we all had breakfast, and then we brought Emily for a walk down Masem Court.
Lately, there have been several unique-looking RPGs on my mind that have the usual problem of normally personal foodstuffs healing the entire party, but I brought up the deal with Omori, both how particularly unique the game itself and its case is. Like, in that game, the items that restore everyone's Juice (equivalent to PP et al) simultaneously are all in the forms of differently flavored fruit smoothies. Normally, I wouldn't bother to seek expansions of a game's menu, given everything that proper implementation of new items would entail, but even if this wouldn't be the first non-sword-and-sorcery RPG I'd write off (that would be Superhero League of Hoboken, with only one of each item in that game), it just seems like a waste to pass up on something interesting as this. (I will probably commission soon for some new food icons for that game and others.)
Brian told me that it's possible that the developers draft up some food first, and then assign them their actual properties for the game when they're out of spoons to create anything more.
He also mentioned assuming all this time that I just liked RPGs in general, and asked me if I'd still play something if it didn't have food. I confirmed that I would if there was some other reason to, such as if someone wanted a randomplay walkthrough for something not on my agenda, and also citing Suikoden I as a prime example given the bonuses that game can unlock in II.

Brian and Emily left mid-afternoon to celebrate Thanksgiving early with the Maloneys. Emily had brought Hanalei over for a few minutes before they left.
I, meanwhile, have asked on Reddit if anyone would be willing to create or expand upon wikis for several different games, some each as a whole but others for specific aspects. I will give that a chance to pan out, probably until I come back to and beat Suikoden II.
