Jun. 3rd, 2023 06:27 amYesterday was Brian and Emily's last day here. Emily's parents came over to see them one last time, and Mom got also off of work halfway through her regular shift to say goodbye to them, and also to drive me to an interview I had at 2, the first of two I had scheduled for the day.
We managed to say bye to them before heading out. The interview was for a cashier position at a new 7-Eleven store opening up in Bayport, but was actually set at the store in Brookhaven. Neither hiring manager I was instructed by email to ask for was there, and I had to ask a cashier three different times across half an hour to call them about whatever was going on on their end. She was never able to reach them before I decided just to leave.
And I was so looking forward to possibly having this job hunt wrapped up once and for all, since the description said they would be hiring on the spot. (Does help that I later discovered myself to have been up against almost 60 other applicants, though, which would be way more than could possibly be required to run a convenience store.)
(I reported the issue later, after we arrived back home from some further errands, to Indeed.com, where I had recently been getting job feeds from, and to an email address in the scheduling email, which was even accompanied with a phone number that I tried first. If any positions open up at the new location, I might still apply there, but I would like nothing to do with two different individuals who obviously could not keep track of their schedules. I will make sure to pass up any openings held in the Brookhaven location, along with the Walmart in Centerreach that never sent me those emails that Pamela had specifically promised me.)
We still had another hour remaining before my other interview, for Sketchers in Riverhead, and stopped at this thrift store that we sometimes pass while walking around in Bellport. Mom found some kind of small tray for something before I went to get her to continue our way there.
-----
During the morning, Marie had sent us a menu to contribute to for each day of an upcoming vacation. I was the first one to receive it, given how obsessive-compulsively I already check my messages, and was quick to contribute more than a few ideas to most of it.
Back to our drive to Riverhead, Mom brought it up with me, having received it I guess while waiting for me at 7-Eleven, and told me that Marie asked her if she filled it out, before they deduced from such tidbits as "Pancakes (thick and fluffy)" and "No[ Turkish eggs] for Eric" (since I don't like eggs to begin with). Aunt Marie then called, and Mom mentioned it to her while talking.
-----
Yesterday was National Donut Day, which Emily mentioned the day prior, and we made a point to stop at a Dunkin' Donuts somewhere for a free donut available when you buy a drink. We saved that for after my Sketchers interview, and drove to the Bellport location, where I ran in and got a vanilla creme donut with an iced matcha latte.
Ate them back home, and then Mom and I began watching the last two episodes of To Heart before we move my computer back upstairs. (I was actually too tired to be unplugging everything to bring upstairs and reconfigure by the time we finished, and I am writing this entry from in the house.)
For after we'd finish the anime, I had promised Mom my manga copies for its alternate story. Left those on a chair by her bedside at her suggestion, where some regular books were already stacked.
