Jan. 12th, 2024 05:25 amAfter arriving early for work yesterday morning, Doreen told me that even though my first two absences were approved (only by a computer program), I did not have enough PTO, protected or otherwise, to request even the first day off without a doctor's note. The first day, New Year's Eve, landed me two points because that is a critical day of the year.
She also handed me my first paycheck from before, which she explained was never deposited directly because the person in charge of that did not have my banking information yet, and suggested I bring that to money services at 10 or later for cash, in lieu of bringing it to my actual bank for a deposit.
-----
Found a box of Mike & Ike still sealed in a cart early after clocking in. Pocketed to have back at home.
(Not the first non-garbage item I spotted in a cart. Just the other day, I came across a gallon of apple juice that I returned to customer service.)
-----
Yesterday was the first day I made use of my locker, after finding it warm enough the previous morning to simply leave my jacket et al home.
-----
At some point, a supervisor brought me to the computer room to take a uLearn lesson about active shooters and what to do about them. It only took a few minutes to watch a video, but I then discovered a number of lessons ranging from already overdue to due in just a few days, and spent the next hour catching up with those. Stopped short of everything due next month or so, and that's when I made my deposit before taking my lunch break. (The remaining lessons are what I will attempt next time both of the cart bays are full.)
-----
Shortly before my shift ended, I spotted Robert filling the lefthand cart bay, and addressed a problem I had the other day with the cart pusher, in which it did respond to the remote at first but then stopped after I took a moment to open the shutter. He suggested I try turning it off and on again next time that happens, and that shouldn't be too hard to remember, being the same thing I do whenever a motorcart does that.
Some old lady soon came up and asked me if I had seen this Pathmark bag she had accidentally left behind somewhere, a memento of her late husband and so well-made from a now-defunct store chain. It's probably gone, and I told her that if I had seen it, I'd probably remember at least one visit there from during my childhood, like "There's a name I haven't heard in so long," and I'd remember where I saw it.

Mom and I finished Dawn of the Deep Soul last night. We should be able tonight to start watching the second season.
