May. 11th, 2024 06:59 amThe other day, I mistakenly put our current ice cream scoop (aluminum) in the dishwasher while loading that in general (the reason I didn't simply rinse it).
The next day, Mom was home because she had an MRI to take Dad to that day. I helped her unload the dishwasher, noticed the scoop oxidized and covered in shavings of some kind, and Mom lost it and asked me why I would put that in.
She apologized while driving me to work, for having gotten mad at me, and asked me not to buy her a new one even for Mother's Day, even specifying Drew to have done the same thing with some things.
The next day, I asked Dad to drive me early to work, initially specifying only that there's something I need to look for. I told Dad just when we were arriving at the store not to tell Mom about driving me early, but he then mentioned Mom having filled him in. (Thought it would've be a nice surprise if I got one anyway, assuming her word simply to rule out any actual obligation.)
That evening, after I had already had an Oreo cone (boxed that way), Mom mentioned after our episode of Killing Slimes that that scoop actually has more of a grip now. Decided to try it out the next evening, last night, upon unsealing a small Ben & Jerry's tub of coffee chip, but the difference felt subtle to me.

Noticed Brian's truck on the sideyard this morning, just when I was about to start this entry. Originally, he was supposed to come Wednesday, but then Mom told me he had to call it off due to something that happened en route.
Came down to verify, and he was already having breakfast while filling Mom in on what went on. Listened to him for a few minutes before heading back up, and Dad also came out of his and Mom's room and chimed in.
