Jul. 1st, 2024 05:18 amDuring my turn with a call from Marie yesterday, it turns out that these "national" holidays I see on the calendar at work are not approved by congress or anything, but are instead paid by different companies to have some theme or another occupy one chosen day of the year in order to promote sales.

Yesterday, Mom had to go to Target for a headphone adapter for Dad, who is going to spend a week in a hospital in Manhattan starting today, so he can listen to YouTube videos on his iPad (hers?) without bothering whoever he'll be sharing a room with. She invited me out for a ride, and I decided to come along to get something at the Starbucks counter there.
There were two flavors of boba tea advertised on a plaque, but the barista told me there wasn't any boba left at that time, so I instead ordered a chocolate chip cookie and an iced white chocolate mocha.
Even though there were two parties in line before me that I had to wait a good few minutes for, it was then that I saw Mom actually come inside, after she had already stated that she wasn't going to take long enough for me to look at games after I finish eating. She reported trying a pair of headphones she had me retrieve from my computer desk with her own iPad, and finding the plug to fit perfectly, sparing her any need to shop around at all, and I wound up eating my stuff back in the car.

Mom decided to order a pizza yesterday, and ordered Brian and Dad a small (medium?) sausage pizza, with two pepperoni slices in a separate box for me.
