Oct. 7th, 2024 04:28 amNot in the mood to write about anything that happened yesterday; maybe tomorrow.
Long story short, it is about time to suspend all these side-deals I have had going on for at least a few months, including simple stories that I haven't been paying nearly as much for as for those two ROMhacks. I've already mentioned Raymond's work on Earthbound last month, and even though things have been moving right along with Jonathan, what he's been charging me for each change has been around the same as I make from work, and sometimes more, and I had already taken to limiting progress there to one change a week before Mom got on my case yesterday about pouring so much money at all into that. (She says that those two guys are milking me, but I've been equating that with Sean Finnerty asking a contractor why he'd charge around $300 simply to cut a branch down, before the latter explains all the complications involved in such a task.)
Before even landing BJ's more than a year ago, and especially with a bigger paycheck now than I made there, I honestly thought I would be able to pay much more competitively for ROMhacks than a measly $144 for each game involved once I'd have a job. However, Mom went on to emphasize both Starbound and some kind of life savings, the latter of which was never brought up at all for obvious reasons back when I went so long without a job, having no idea how to go on about seeking employment personally after she gave up on such bullshit help we got for several years from agency after agency after I had finished college.
So now, the plan is to invest some money and personal effort into Starbound already (technically, the tasklist was already a step towards that, but exactly how is one of several questions Mom presented me with last night before I went to bed), and secondarily, to complete some randomization challenge walkthroughs already, most of whose pages barely contain anything to date. For the latter, I am just going to settle for the vanilla games, except for Super Mario RPG (whose main changes are already all in place) and Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising (also with very few changes, for which I already have Affonso to take care of if he'll still be available). Whenever I come back to ROMhacks, I am also going to look for people who will charge me much less for either each change or each game as a whole, and have already been planning to limit the options to console and handheld games since PC and Android seem already easier to hire people for.
