Dec. 5th, 2024 06:45 amHad a bus arranged for yesterday to arrive here at 10:15. Mom suggested I cancel it, since she was home to drive me to work.
Not having brought my phone downstairs, I called SCAT through hers, and was told before the call ended that I would be receiving a call to my own phone to make sure that my account has not been hacked. By the time I made my way back up to the apartment, my phone displayed a missed-call message.
Brought it down, and Mom suggested I verify that my ride has been cancelled. At the end of that call, I suggested talking to whoever's in charge to ask that such messages be texted instead of called from now on.
Brian came down just seconds later, and I asked him if he had heard anything while watching stuff on his phone still in bed. He said he chalked it up to my alarm, and I explained what had just happened.

After hooking up the small humidifier that we've been keeping up in the apartment (we've since brought one of two much larger ones up from the house), both me and Brian later noticed some kind of smell, but I chalked it up to some plants reacting to the moisture while he thought some part of it needed to be cleaned.
It went away for a few days, but then came on late last night. Mom came up yesterday morning, and identified it as stove gas; turned out that one of us had bumped a knob, turning it just short of igniting an actual flame. She and I opened up the door and some windows to air the apartment out before heading out to work.

Sent a card to Chelle a few weeks ago, captioned "Why Santa doesn't use cats", featuring one cat with antlers attached saying "Pull your own stupid sleigh!" and another in a Santa hat yawning. She got back to me last night, commenting on what may have doubled as a reference to Freyja, in addition to your typical cat humor. That confused me at first, but as it turns out, Freyja was actually a Norse goddess who rode a chariot pulled by two cats.
