May. 11th, 2025 07:19 amAfter we had breakfast yesterday morning, Mom brought Maris to our room, and asked if I could put something on for her. Turns out the TV only had broadcast, so I tried hooking up our DVD player from home, with which I brought A Little Snow Fairy Sugar (and also Made In Abyss, for my fellow adults), only to realize afterwards that we never brought the remote for it. Looked into hooking up my laptop, but for that, we had forgotten the cable that we normally hook it to our apartment TV with, and had to borrow Brian's later.
Marie and Drew arrived during that time, and I instead showed Drew something I wrote the other day about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and its role back in '99 in shaping how I play video games. (Showed the same thing to Brian after he arrived a few minutes later.)
-----
The five of us drove back to Brian's house for a bit, before going to Hingham to check out its local heritage museum and cemetery.
Came back to the house to have lunch, and then Mom drove me to this mall across the street from the hotel, where Marie and Drew also went to meet us. Checked out Newbury Comics right when we came inside, but didn't see anything there that would interest me. Went over then to f.y.e., and not surprisingly, everything was on discount in preparation to closing down. (Wouldn't be surprised if that happens at the Smithhaven location, which still has anime DVDs but only a small selection now.)
Got myself a box of assorted international chocolates and a pack of caramel bonbons.
Mom had parted temporarily from Marie and Drew by the time I came out.
Right across from that store was this milkshake place where I decided to order a mocha shake. (I also noticed a Nutella cookie croissant on display, but was still in the mood for something cold.)
Went with Marie and Drew to this food court on the floor above, before sitting down to have my shake. Mom and Brian met us with Maris in hand shortly thereafter, and we explored a bit more before I went with Marie and Drew back to the hotel for a nap.

Just minutes after I woke up, Marie texted me to meet her and Drew to return to the house, before the five of us would drive to this place called Pemberton Point for a short walk around.
-----
Some time after we got back, I went with Marie and Drew to walk a lap or so around the streets surrounding the house. During some discussion originally about how you should make plans for possible downtime, but without actively expecting to fit them in in case no such opportunities do open up, I put Sugar and Earthbound USA on the table for back at the hotel, provided none of us would be falling asleep by that point.
During actual downtime later on, the three of us went into Brian's basement to watch Sugar; I offered the additional option of Magical Girl Raising Project, but Drew said I seemed somewhat enthused during that walk to show them Sugar, whose main human character I had mentioned as the reason I like brunette girls and why I changed Paula's hair brown in Earthbound (mentioned in turn during a discussion after he read that Zelda passage).
Initially couldn't find YouTube on the TV there, and searching the show revealed it on Prime Video (no Hidive on that TV). However, I did not want to start a free trial here, and Drew took over and managed to find YouTube somehow.
Put on the first episode, and once again, the audio fell out of sync halfway through (further episodes have not had that problem, but obviously, DVD and Hidive are the way to go for rewatching that one).
During our drive back to the hotel, after Drew had commented during the episode how mean Saga is to try to ignore Sugar's existence even before going to bed, I debated with them and Mom what was really going through Saga's mind to act so unlike herself after having been so nice to feed her out in town. Drew also questioned how such an orderly girl could leave a lock of her hair sticking up, something he described as an "alfalfa sprout", and I suggested it to be some kind of fashion choice (I could actually equate that somewhat with Tintin, mostly tidy with just the one bit sticking up).
